Below is a very candid and insightful article by Allan Dobras on the practice of homosexuality. He rightly defines it as a verb and not a noun.

An excellent read!

“Homosexual” is Not a Noun: Winning the Battle of Words
By Allan Dobras
July 14, 2004

As the proposed Federal Marriage Amendment to the United States Constitution is debated, the public and Congress will be subjected to a relentless public relations assault from homosexual advocacy groups claiming that the marriage amendment would discriminate against same-sex couples. Implicit in these claims is the presumption that the term “homosexuals” refers to an identifiable class of people—a claim that even its staunchest supporters know is a myth.

Lost in the debate is the fact that in its original context, homosexual—as well as its nearly synonymous counterpart, gay—was most often used as an adjective and referred to erotic desires for the same sex. In the past, it was common to refer to someone who practiced homosexual activity as a sodomite, and the act of homosexuality—i.e., unnatural carnal copulation—as sodomy.

Actually, both homosexual and heterosexual are relatively new terms, having found their way into the lexicon in the 1930s. The associated term gay, did not come into common usage until the mid-1970s.

The use of those words as nouns has come into relatively common usage in recent years, in large part due to homosexual practitioners and their apologists who know that any debate centered on the homosexual lifestyle would be a lost cause. For obvious reasons, therefore, it was politically necessary to perpetrate the myth that homosexuality is an inborn state of being and a civil rights issue rather than an atypical sexual behavior, like pederasty—sexual activity between a man and a boy.

Myth Becomes Reality
The public relations machine of the Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, and Transgender movement (GLBT) achieved an important victory last year when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that unnatural carnal copulation, i.e. sodomy, was a constitutionally guaranteed right and its practitioners are to be regarded as a protected minority group. Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, writing for the majority, said,
Moral disapproval of a group cannot be a legitimate governmental interest under the Equal Protection Clause because legal classifications must not be “drawn for the purpose of disadvantaging the group burdened by the law.
In addition, there have been a plethora of statements by GLBT groups and their sympathizers that have perpetrated the false impression that science has proven that homosexual practitioners are born into the lifestyle and cannot change their sexual preferences. As “proof,” several scientific studies have been cited: studies of the hypothalamus; identification of a “gay” gene; hormone research; studies of identical twins; and studies in brain chemistry.

The common thread that ties these studies together is that not one produced any result that established a biological link to sexual orientation. What has been shown is that the most prevalent common denominators in homosexual orientation are dysfunctional relationships with the same-sex parent and early childhood sexual abuse. Three facts about homosexuality are indisputable:

* There is no scientific evidence that supports the conclusion that homosexuality is inborn or that it is unchangeable.

* A person can be seduced into the homosexual lifestyle.

* A person can leave the homosexual lifestyle and live a fully productive and fulfilling heterosexual life, albeit not without difficulty, as with any life-altering addiction.

Homosexuals Can Only be Identified by Behavior
In the legal pursuit of GLBT rights, it is well known that no one can prove that he/she is a so-called homosexual. The Maryland Anti-discrimination law of 2001, for example, provides no procedure to establish how an individual can be identified as male or female homosexual, heterosexual, or bisexual. In fact, the law essentially recognized the futility of attempting to verify an individual’s sexual orientation when it added the following waiver:

An employer shall be immune from liability, under this article or under the common law, arising out of the employer's reasonable acts to verify the sexual orientation of any employee or applicant taken by the employer in response to a charge filed against the employer on the basis of sexual orientation.

The California Domestic Partners Law cites a domestic partnership as a declaration of shared responsibility between two persons of the same sex—the declaration is not made between two homosexuals since it is not possible to rationally classify someone by using such a designation. In fact, the California law makes no mention of either homosexuals or sexual orientation in the legislation.

The recently passed Senate hate crimes bill, S.966, provides additional penalties for “offenses involving actual or perceived race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.” The crafters of the bill, recognizing that sexual orientation is an indeterminate term, added the word perceived as a descriptor to the protected categories. Again, the word homosexual is nowhere found in the legislation.

The Homosexual Lifestyle
Since it is indisputable that homosexuality is solely a declared statement of a person’s behavior and not an innate characteristic of a class of people, it is of paramount importance that we understand what that behavior is and its physical and societal ramifications before any actions are take to legitimize the lifestyle. There is a wide body of readily available evidence that places the homosexual lifestyle in perspective:

* No matter what image of the homosexual lifestyle GLBT groups may want to project to the public, the facts are that the great majority of homosexuals engage in risky sexual practices that most people would consider beyond bizarre.A frank and open look at the homosexual lifestyle can be found at the web site of the Family Research Institute. (http://)

* Promiscuity, pornography, and the elusive pursuit of sexual fulfillment fuel the engine of the homosexual lifestyle.

* It is not uncommon for homosexuals to have hundreds, if not thousands, of casual sexual encounters during their lifetime, whether in a “committed” relationship or not.Sexual fidelity has little meaning in homosexual relationships.

Dr. Tim Dailey, Senior Fellow for Cultural Studies at the Family Research Council, has documented certain studies that describe the many health and societal risks associated with the homosexual lifestyle. In his recent book, Dark Obsession, Dr. Dailey notes,

* Human Papillomavirus (HPV)—which can lead to anal cancer—infects over 90 percent of HIV-positive gay men, and 65 percent of HIV-negative gay men.

* Gay men are at increased risk for contracting hepatitis—a potentially fatal liver disease that increases the risk of liver cancer.

* Homosexuals acquire syphilis at a rate ten times that of heterosexuals.

* Men who have sex with men comprise the single largest exposure category of people with AIDS.Homosexual men with HIV have a 37-fold increase in anal cancer, a 4-fold increase in Hodgkins disease, a 2.7-fold increase in cancer of the testicles, and a 2.5-fold increase in lip cancer.

* Thirty-six percent of homosexuals engaging in unprotected oral, anal, or vaginal sex failed to disclose that they were HIV positive to casual sex partners.

* The incidence of anal cancer in homosexuals is 35 times greater than that of the general population.

* Lesbians have more male sex partners then their heterosexual counterparts, putting lesbians at greater risk for contracting STDs.

* Lesbians are three times more likely to abuse alcohol.

* Homosexual and lesbian relationships are far more violent than traditional married households.

* Seventy-five percent of lesbians have pursued psychological counseling of some kind—many for treatment of long-term depression.

* Life expectancy for gay and bi-sexual men is eight to twenty years less than average.

* There is a significantly higher rate of suicide for homosexual men than heterosexual men.

* Having a homosexual parent or parents appears to increase the risk of incest with a parent by a factor of about 50.

These behavioral, physical, and societal ramifications paint a dismal picture of a lifestyle that is portrayed to the public as equivalent to the traditional nuclear family. Unfortunately, if the Federal Marriage Amendment does not become the law of the land, homosexual unions will soon hold a place alongside true marriage between a man and women—the God-blessed family unit that has been the backbone of civilized society since the dawn of creation. This will have happened in large part because of a debate that never took place… a debate that would have revealed the facts about the homosexual behavior before we so recklessly enshrined it into law.

Allan Dobras article seems to suggest that the homosexual life style is dangerous to one's health. I would say that life itself is dangerous to ones health. Life is "mined" with things that will kill one, no matter what the life style. But lets look at some of his warnings. I can only answer his comments from what I have experienced from Gays that I know and have talked to, or sought my council.

* Promiscuity, pornography, and the elusive pursuit of sexual fulfillment fuel the engine of the homosexual lifestyle.

I think it fuels all kinds of lifestyles. Have you not seen the sexual promiscuity of the average Bahamian? On the net the vast majority of porn is directed to heterosexuals.

* It is not uncommon for homosexuals to have hundreds, if not thousands, of casual sexual encounters during their lifetime, whether in a "committed" relationship or not.Sexual fidelity has little meaning in homosexual relationships.

Any person, in a committed relationship, is committed. Homosexuals tell me it is difficult to find partners.

Possible! But did you know that sexually active heterosexual women are more likely to get cervical cancer that lesbians? Also, to carry on in Dr. Tim Dailey's and Allan Dobras' "logic." Heterosexual women are more likely to die in child birth that lesbian women!!!

* Gay men are at increased risk for contracting hepatitis—a potentially fatal liver disease that increases the risk of liver cancer.

Unlikely. Drug usurers are.

* Homosexuals acquire syphilis at a rate ten times that of heterosexuals.

Very unlikely. Syphilis is a plague of all sexually active people.

* Men who have sex with men comprise the single largest exposure category of people with AIDS. Homosexual men with HIV have a 37-fold increase in anal cancer, a 4-fold increase in Hodgkins disease, a 2.7-fold increase in cancer of the testicles, and a 2.5-fold increase in lip cancer.

The first part. AIDS is spreading the fastest in heterosexual women in Africa and the Far East. As for the rest, possible but, unlikely. Those cancers can be caused by many things unrelated to sex.

* Thirty-six percent of homosexuals engaging in unprotected oral, anal, or vaginal sex failed to disclose that they were HIV positive to casual sex partners.

Distressful, if true but of course heterosexual always disclose this info to their partners?

* The incidence of anal cancer in homosexuals is 35 times greater than that of the general population.

Possible.

* Lesbians have more male sex partners then their heterosexual counterparts, putting lesbians at greater risk for contracting STDs.

A Lesbian is a woman who has intercourse with women! Why would they have male sex partners? I think the word Dr. Tim Dailey is struggling for is bisexuals! Any people, no matter what there sexual preferences are more likely to get a STD if they have multiple partners. It is like saying, "Those who fall in the sea are more likely to get wet than those who stay on shore!" In other words, a ridiculous observation.

* Lesbians are three times more likely to abuse alcohol.

Perhaps that is due to the stress put on them by society?

* Homosexual and lesbian relationships are far more violent than traditional married households.

No more, no less.

* Seventy-five percent of lesbians have pursued psychological counseling of some kind—many for treatment of long-term depression.

Again, Perhaps that is due to the stress put on them by society?

* Life expectancy for gay and bi-sexual men is eight to twenty years less than average.

Again, Perhaps that is due to the stress put on them by society?

* There is a significantly higher rate of suicide for homosexual men than heterosexual men.

Again, Perhaps that is due to the stress put on them by society?

* Having a homosexual parent or parents appears to increase the risk of incest with a parent by a factor of about 50.

Nonsense! Every indication shows that incest is a heterosexual "past time!"

Statistics etc. leave me cold. They can be interpreted to mean anything.

I am reminded of a story a U.S. comic told about statistics. "The Police tell us that 41% of traffic accident are caused by drunk drivers. That means that 59% of accidents are caused by people who are cold sober!" Does that mean your odds are better if you are drunk? No! Of course not - it is just statistics. There are many other factors that come into play. So it is with Allan Dobras and Dr. Tim Dailey's statistics.

Homosexual is not a noun. It's an adjective. An adjective is a word that describes a noun. But it has been common for quite sometime to associate adjectives with nouns. I believe YAHWEH made animals and Edom named them.
"God", "Lion", "Boy" and "Lamb" are all adjectives if you look at it. They describe the entity to which those respective names have been given.

this site doesn't say anything about same sex marriages.

you can be gay and be a christian, but the goal is to turn away from
your sins, not find a religion that accepts your sins.

can you post something more specific that supports your
same sex union argument - the only thing noticeable on that
site is that you can be saved which is truthful, even a murderer can
be saved, but they are not accepted as a murderer and expected
to go on murdering.

beig a christian involves repenting and turning away from your sins,
not embracing them. God does not change and he hates sin, he wants us
all to depart from sin, not keep on sinning - and definetly not teach others to sin.

accepting gay persons into your church is expected, but advocating that they be allowed to marry is not biblical.

Just incase you missed it. Its not about homosexual marriage its about being GLBT and Christian.
"We are NOT an ex-gay ministry. The Founders and The Gay Christian Outreach Leadership Team believe it is possible to be both gay and Christian."

Oh just to clear this up for you. We do not see same sex marriage as a Christian thing. As in the only marriage is a Christian one. For you marriage is about faith for us its about law and equality as a human.
Don't care how many churches a couple go to and how many marriage ceremonies they do if they don't have a marriage license they are not married.
If a couple never step foot in a church never have a marriage ceremony and they sign the marriage license they are married.

how does site prove that the others sites I linked to, to be homophobic propaganda?

you can be a gay christian, but your focus is to move away from what is wrong in God's eyes and strive to follow his laws.

promoting gay marriages will never be seen as Godly behavior. Because it homosexuality is an abomination to God. You can still be saved, but how can you draw people to God if you are known to be married to someone of the same sex?

Question: "What does the Bible say about gay marriage?"

Answer: Before we look at gay marriage, first we have to remember what the Bible says about homosexuality. The Bible clearly and consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1Corinthians 6:9). God does not create a person with homosexual desires. A person becomes a homosexual because of sin (Rom 1:24-27), and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person choosing to sin by giving into their sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger / rage, does that make it right for then to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is true for homosexuality.

We also have to remember that homosexuality is just as forgivable a sin as all other sins. God’s forgiveness is just as available to a homosexual as it is to an adulterer, idol worshipper, murderer, thief, etc. God’s love and desire to save extends to homosexuals (John 3:16; Romans 5:8). God also promises the strength for victory over sin, including homosexuality, to all those who will believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation (1Cor 6:11; 2Cor 5:17).

To give sanction to homosexual marriage would be to give approval to that lifestyle, which the Bible clearly and consistently condemns as sinful. I belief the Christians should stand firmly against the idea of gay marriage. Marriage is ordained by God to be between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:21-24; Matthew 19:4-6). Homosexual marriage is a perversion of the institution of marriage and an offense to the God who created marriage. God forbids and condemns homosexuality, so He clearly is opposed to homosexual marriage. As Christians, we are to seek to share the love of God and salvation through Christ with homosexuals. We are to be loving and kind to homosexuals, while at the same time not condoning their sinful lifestyle.

See Vicky homosexuality is forgivable but not to be embraced, but turned away from by the believer.

If you don't believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead and is alive today with God in heaven, then you won't believe that homosexuality can be overcome either.

pointing out other abominations does not excuse your case for homosexuality or support it in any way.

sorta like telling a judge you only raped the girl because your friend started it.

or pointing out that there have been murderers from the beginning of time(cain and able), so you should be able to commit murder too.

2 wrongs don't make a right, neither does 2 lefts.

do as you please, you already know it is wrong, and that is all that matters.

Not being homosexual, but teaching that it is ok and that same sex marriage is ok ...
