Joe Lewis isn't actually a Bahamian. He was born in London, but he does LIVE full time in the Bahamas.

He didn't actually buy the whole company. He did shell out $860.4 Million to buy a 7% stake in the company. That makes him the largest private share-holder.

Guess what else Lewis owns?

The Tavistock group.

Guess what Tavistock owns?

ALBANY!

This fellas has some DEEP POCKETS! :shhh:

NEW YORK -- Billionaire Joseph Lewis, the British-born, Bahamas-based currency trader, has paid $860.4-million (U.S.) for a 7-per-cent stake in Bear Stearns Cos., making him the beleaguered brokerage firm's largest shareholder.

Mr. Lewis, a one-time waiter whose business empire includes golf courses, a genetic engineering firm and Patagonian real estate, is the president of Aquarian Investments Ltd. and four other Bahamian companies that bought the Bear Stearns shares, according to a filing today with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commissio

there is a lot on the net about Joe. There was an assasination (sp) attempt in 1999 in South America which left the helicopter pilot dead. Interesting individual.

I though yall knew this. Man these people will buy your property, and put the sold sign on your lawn (or dusty ground because I know some of you all refuse to lay a piece of sod!) and you would not know it! I'm not even talking about quieting titles!

I read this today. Maybe other investors will follow suit....

In any case, this is why I said the town meetings for Albany was embarrasing!

Don't you think, that if people like that came to spend good money, they have allready bought a politician or two on BOTH sides?

Dennis Dames and the lot just made a public spectacle out of all of us....he should have known better. But, I think he did, he just wanted some PR for himself.

Leave that man Anand alone...the deal is done. Now, all we need is the container port to follow suit, and we have the south-east end of NP developed; like the way it should!

FPO gat a container port.

Maybe yinna set in Nassau could beg we pardon! LOL! :D

Yes, this deal is done. The consulting SHOULD have happened YEARS ago when Albany was still a glimmer in Tiger Wood's eye.

If this fella can by 7.% of Bear Stearns, I can just imagine what politicians are giggling with glee over the deal they made with him for Albany.

But in any case, would love to work for Lewis. In fact, I tried to do a little research on the group in order to find out if they have a careers portal. No such luck!

Jes' go knock on his house door at Lyford Cay and say "Ma lord, I went to LSE and need work!"

He was born in London so he might have a soft spot for London education.

if one has a deed for the land, it cannot be quieted or used by anyone else in any way, without permission, or a court order (eg. easements), that would be trespassing and is punishable by law.
