Joe Lewis, the billionaire who owns the Tavistock Group just bought 7% off Bear Stearns.

He shelled out %860.4 Million to become the largest private shreholder.

Tavistock is the company backing ALBANY (along with Tiger Woods and Ernie Els).

If yinna think this is all the work of an outsider, think again. Lewis is based in the Bahamas and owns quite a bit here.

Yinna need to stop watching MTV and da VMA's and start watching the financial channels. This thing was all over. They talked about the Bahamas MANY times in the report.

Da plot thickens!!!:shhh:

Buying 7% of Bear Stearns is a HUGE DEAL. It shows that this dude is no lightweight.

I think Bear Stearns is a banking institution which recently lost a lot of money on foreclosures of home mortgages. Just not interested enough to do a proper search.

Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc., one of the largest global investment banks and securities trading and brokerage firms in the world.

Have you ever heard of Goldman Sachs or Merrill Lynch or Lehman Brother's?

Buying 7% of Bear Stearns is like buying 7% of Barclay's International.

Yes heard of the 3 mentioned, not the bear stains group though. I know he is a billionaire though, been to his house, nothing to prove to me.

Yup..... They made lots of money selling sub-prime mortgages and had two hedge funds blow up on them because of it.

Basically they started the slide in the US stock market earlier this summer that might lead to a recession which will affect the Bahamas.

Lewis might have saved Bear from the brink with the 7% buy.

This sounds like a threat??? :gi:

Any failure by the government to honour heads of agreement the former administration signed with investors could hurt investor confidence in the Bahamas, Managing Partner of the Albany Beach and Golf Resort Christopher Anand said Tuesday.

"One of the ways they analyze risk is stability from an investment perspective and if you start having these situations, as governments change agreements change, that’s a big problem because that starts to introduce political uncertainty from a business climate perspective," he told the Bahama Journal from Orlando.

mmmhhh...investor confidence my foot...they big and bad call they bluff! but the mere fact that they started already could be grounds to recede what's outlined in the HOA...sometimes you have to make decisions that may hurt you now, but in the long run are better for you...quietly do we really need another development of this magnitude? its not worth it!

think about Bahamians yet born.

The thing is with these new massive developments, can we produce enough electricity and water to supply their needs? We got trouble now with electricity! And dont talk about water! Sometimes I don't get a drop for days! What will it be like when many new, high end, high consuming houses are added to the grid?
