What is central to your identity?

I think this is good to know because it drives your life.
It is what we base and conclude ideas for the most part from. The reason we live and interact with others is based on the central part of our identity.

Do tell, we would like to know.

It would be hard to pick just one. We all have been "made" by our experiences. We all have been molded by the circumstances of life - all of them combined, those you have listed and others. If one had been different than what it was we might have been different people altogether.

If I had to pick one, just one, I would pick education and work with religion a close second.

I have noticed that people utter what is center to their identity often.

For example, people would say:

I am “Bahamian” above all (country)
I am a proud “black woman” (race, gender)
I am a man of “God” (religion)

I wonder if they utter it as a sign or strength or weakness though.

I would have to say... my mind!

Good question though!

You have to remember your mind is a collection of thoughts, ideas and memories. The 10 choices above and others fashion your mind and the way you think.

Not mutually exclusive, or is it.

Maybe you are right, but I would beg to differ.

How you process those thoughts, ideas and memories drives your view of the world, not the thoughts ideas and memories themselves, is my humble opinion.

I think both is right. The thoughts, ideas and memories that you have are different from mine. Yet, even those that we might share we both process differently. It is a very complex question this "I am?" :)

You are so right!

How you process those thoughts... ie - your religion, gender, race and the like influences the processing or helps you to facilitate the processing of those thoughts; we are not talking on a biological basis obviously so it has to be philosophical processing. So does the philosophy of your gender, race, religion and the like help you to produce an outcome from a central standpoint?

So you and I may have the same thoughts in our minds but because we are of different gender we may process them differently. Just an example…..

Our mind is not a ship unto itself, there are many sails that help direct and chart courses for us.
