Haters?
Definition: A person that simply cannot be happy for another person's success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person.
I know BI is the place to vent and say whatever the hell is on your mind, but there seems to be a lot of hatin’ goin’ on. I know we Bahamians love some good spicy gossip, but there’s a lot of negativity, often coming people who only have lip service to offer.
The whole Danny Glover / Sidney Poiter thread – you doin’ something positive for the Bahamas, you have my support!
So BI what’s up with the hating? :dgi:
Danny Glover's a Nutcase, Sidney Poitier is a great man. Thats all I gots to say on the matter.

I ein see no hatin either. It was all the facts ..... None of them whether we like it or not are as vocal/ present about the Bahamas as they are about issues in the USA. Same goes for Al Roker and any other prominent Bahamians or people of Bahamian decent.
Hey, having a summer home or headlining an event for a few days don't mean ya proud of ya heritage, I ein care who dey is. So I could care less for Glover/ Poitier and those of that have real power or opportunity to change the life of an inner city young person.

My thoughts were not so much about the thread referenced - but the attiude in general. Do we complain too much? too ungrateful? too quick to pass judgement? Always pessimistic?
I ask these questions because I over heard a conversation where someone (non caribbean) said "that whole region suffers from the crabs in a barrel syndrome, it is impossible for them to extract the positive from a situation".
Was wondering what BI members thought?

Honestly, I dont think Bahamians complain enough. It seems not good enough, is good enough for most Bahamians. Look, the forum is here for us to discuss issues pertaining to the Bahamas, that can be good, and bad, there is a mix here. Honestly most of what we put on here is just letting hot air out, as typically nothing we write here will change anything. There are problems, and if nobody ever "complains" about those problems, and I use the word "complains" loosely, then the problems will never be addressed.
We dont have many places to post our views and opinions, infact we are fairly limited in the amount of online forums, especially compared to many other countries, those of which do more complaining than the ocean has water. If the people you speak of are looking for the praise only forums, Im afraid they will have no luck finding one of those, for any country.
Ofcourse there is good here also, thats a given, but then typically "issue" means problem .. we dont have an issue with the good things, and if we did, they would be posted here also. ;)
