Somebody just called Issues of the Day to ask if it is true that First Caribbean Bank is in receivership. Anyone work there who might know why such a rumour could be circulating?

receivership is another name for bankruptcy, right?
that doesnt sound right! CIBC (its parent company) is a respectable profitable brand!

It was a merger between Barklay's and CIBC.
I never liked this merger.

So, should a bank go bankrupt, what happens to the customer's money?

Anyone remember that bank in Freeport that went belly up?

Gulfstream? Shellstream? Gulf Union? Can't remember....

It was the one down town close to the hospital and across the street from Christ the King Church and KFC??

Those people only got pennies on the dollar after years of wrangling.
