I think all of the P.L.P M.P's need anger management sessions.
Gray Warns Ferguson
Published: Thursday September 13th, 2007
MICAL MP, the Hon. V. Alfred Gray drew a line in the sand for FNM Chairman Johnley Ferguson to cross last night during his short address at the Speakers and Issues Forum.
Updating the crowd of several hundred packed into Charlie's Place, Mr. Gray spoke on his recent meetings in Grand Bahama with the PLAN. He expressed how impressed and moved he was to see young Bahamians from all walks of life coming together to fight for what they believe in. Mr. Gray also took time out to outline the FNM's continued practice of cruel and uncaring victimizations in the Family Islands, particularly his area.
In explaining the PLP's vision for the school in Salina Point Acklins, Mr. Gray told the audience that the way that area is set up geographically, all it would take is a category 2 or higher storm to approach from the south and Salina Point Acklins would be no more. The PLP's school plan was to be built some 30 feet above sea level on the highest point in the community to prevent flooding. The complex was intended to be the focal point of the community but according to FNM Chairman, Johnley Ferguson, it was too good for the people. Mr. Gray passionately challenged Johnley Ferguson to go to Salina Point and tell the same thing to the people there and see how they feel about him.
V. Alfred Gray also took time out to address the fact that Johnley Ferguson seemed confused over where his authority ends as Chairman of the FNM. He reminded the FNM Chairman that his duties do no include speaking for the government and as a two time loser, Ferguson should know when to speak and when to shut up. When questions are put to the Government, it is not Ferguson's place to speak.
Mr. Gray got the crowd on its feet when he promised "something special for his cousin Johnley" whenever the house opens.
The Speakers and Issues Forum will return week after next and new speakers will be scheduled. To see photos of last night's Forum, you can go to our galleries section.
