Is it Racist?

Cuba seems to be the only country that the US deems to be the grossest violator of "human rights"; due to communism. Well, we know Castro kicked some corrupt people out of Cuba when he burst on to power. And, he has empowered black men and women in his country, so by his claim.

So, as we see the US "friendly" with China; helping the regime put in place capitalist ideals, over that in light of the communist regime..
As we see them in Vietnam....
As we see the world bank, work in Africa with real human righst violators...

What else should we call the Cuban embargo!??!
:dgi:

It hurts Cuban poor people, more than it does Castro. They still love him...and I think it has to do with pride of being poor, but yet it's your own style of government that you like; even though it's archaic!

There is no reason for that embargo, and no reason for the Cubans in America, to be lobbying to keep the embargo!

Lift that stupid embargo I say.....and give Cubans a taste of the new world, as it has not worked in changing policy in Cuba, in fact, it has steepened everyone in Cuba's hatred of YOU America.

The thought never may have been realized, that the people in Cuba, may actually like their style of government. Just like the Chinese respect their way of life and government.....

The embargo has been an institution of death, plague, disease, poverty and destruction on the Cuban people. TEN TIMES MORE DANGEROUS THAN WHAT CASTRO DID TO THOSE CORRUPT, MONEY HUNGRY WHORES HE KICKED OUT OF CUBA WITH BAPTISTA ON THEIR EARS!
:hammer:

You can't have it both ways. You can't on the one hand, aid and take the side of the people who raped Cuban in the 50s, and then take a moral stand against the man who freed them from that tyranny, which caused them to revolt against the repressive regime in Baptista, in the form of Castro and now take those same power hungry Cuban thieves in South Florida, the ones who got thrown out of Cuba en masse.....to what equity we have in Cuba for more people, even though it is less to go around, due to YOU EMBARGO!

I never agreed with this embargo. Told Cuban friends when I was in Miami that it was wrong. Much to their dislike.....and I stick to this, as the US has looked most hypocritical for letting this last for so long.

Regardless of the regime post Castro; socialist, capitalist, communist or monarchy...for the love of God that you say you servce America, lift that embargo!

Nothing more scares a Capitalist than Communism, has nothing to do with race really, just the all mighty dollar.

Well it has not put fear in them in China. Was reading the FT today, and they were talking about the emerging markets, and how they were fawning over China, and had good notes to say about some parts of Latin America, but when Zoelick came to Africa, he had not one good word to say at all.

They like China, the biggest communist state in this world, enough to kiss their tail end and run a trade deficit. But, can't for the life of them, turn around and trade with a western hemispheric country; after all of the pledges they made to the western hemisphere. To keep us safe and economically solvent!?!? They even fawn over the other Aisian socialist state, Vietnam and Vietnam is basically a socialist tyranny!

Hypocrites. I would tell Condi Rice that to her face; in private and respectfully of course!

That's because the US needs China as much as China needs the US.

China makes the cheap goods that Americans (and in turn the entire Western world) are addicted to.

China needs to cheap churning out those goods to fuel its economy.

China owns a CRAPLOAD of US debt (CDO's, subprime mortgage paper, land, stocks)

The US needs China to buy that debt,

The Bald Eagle and the Dragon are morphing into one animal... A new Phoenix.

Neither can afford to piss of the other without sinking its economy.

Still hypocrites. But, even worse than just mere hypocrites. They are hypocritical whores. Who whore behind more than just the dollar, and they seek kill those who are weaker than them; as is Cuba and Iraq.

Trade with Cuba I say, as the death and suffering your embargo causes on them, and as it becomes a domestic problem for other sensible countries who may wish to trade with Cuba, as merely a humanitarian gesture to the people of Cuba, as it causes some of the most off the wall warped conservative idealists to say "we are aiding and abbetting Castro", like Castro is the devil incarnate...it is just not worth all of this. For example, look at how trading with Cuba is an issue to people in the Bahamas.

I would prefer to help feed the Cuban people, and send them aid if they cannot get it, rather than hate Castro. Say what you wish, but the rampant corruption of the Cuban treasury cannot be laid at the feet of Castro as you can see where his money is spent; on Cuban faccilities like health, education, sports and such.

Sorry Castro is a 'teif of the first order.

He meant well, but just like our own older politicians, he stayed too long and got corrupt.

Still I feel the embargo is nonsense. Canada is making fist full of dollars in Cuba. When Fidel dies, they will be ahead of the game.

The Cuban Americans need to get on board and get a handle on that economy. When "Papi" dies if they have control of the economy they will be the ones in charge essentially and not locked out of the decision making in their homeland.

When they find oil in Cuba, it's gonna be on like popcorn.

China seems to be getting on it's feet, as it's leadership would not let this ship slip away as they have committed to market principles.

It seems as if there is allways a blatant turn of head, when it comes to Africa and the Caribbean.

Africa needs to be helped in the worst way....China can take it from here, throw that smae guidance and care and attention to Africa. They won't, because Africa is still mineral rich and they can exploit that.

You see what they did to Iraq. They just took it. Africa will have to step it up.....

Most of those who are now Cuban American were born in Cuba and left on the boats.

Do you remember "Mariel"?

Census estimates have shown that nearly 60% of the Cubans in SO FLa were born in Cuba.

They are still Cuban. They still sneak into Cuba every chance they get. They still have CLOSE families with mothers/brothers/cousins left.

There won't be much "they foreign" talk, unless they are meaning the Canadians

Castro spent his money, at least a good portion of the money on his people; the embargo hurts more than anything. We know politicians get grabby some times, but Castro did not do total horse radish with the public purse, to the extent where we would not be fawning over their health care, education and sports.

You just gave the reason for the disparity in treatment.

Africa NEEDS help.....

The (West) sees no value there (even with the minerals and oil), just charity work.

Ps. The Chinese are moving in to make big deals with the African nations.
