View Full Version : NASSAU DESTROYED! Disaster plan? Recovery?
Sunnyjohn 09-14-07, - 02:59 PM The other day was the anniversary of Katrina. NOLA is "recovering" but many stay the city's has no real plan and no direction for the future.
The hurricanes did a number on FPO and they are just catching themselves.
SO-
What happens WHEN that Category Five "Hurricane Pam" finally directly hits New Providence?
How will we deal with the flooding, loss of life, food distribution, healthcare, etc?
How will we rebuild the home of over 3/4 of our population and WHEN this happens?
We live in a Hot Zone. Not preparing is NOT an option.

I am afraid I got "paid", and then paid some bills. It is just work experience, so it wasn't much; but at least I cud have a lil somethin in my pocket.
I still lookin for real work. Working with the Brits is tough. They are so reserved and it is hard for them to get to trust you. I am glad I started off slowly with this firm, instead of by accident getting into one of the bigger firms; I may not have been able to last as they make work difficult. Really!
And, I was not jokin bout dat....das exactly what dey ga do!

Sounds like Freddie and Parry dem have it all figureed out.. he did missed out the fact that they will go down to Badbados and advise non-Bahamians that the FNM did it not the PLP....
The thing is how can we prepare for such a disaster, Katrina style? Even the US with all its resources could not do it. It would require massive amounts of money to be put aside - massive amounts we don't have.
I'll guess we will do the only thing we can do and that is look for help from the US, UK and Bahamians living abroad and in that order.
PS. Alien, if the PLP are in power at such a time they will blame the FNM! Lol.

The levies were broken!
:hammer:
The levies were broken!
:hammer:
That is because they were not up to par!
Sunnyjohn 09-14-07, - 04:34 PM The levies were broken!

They are still broke. The Army Corps of Engineers is using outdated techniques to build another system of crappy levies.
They need to call up the Norwegians and see how they keep their whole country from flooding.

Those people know their stuff!

Because they were broken.
Just my point. There were broken, in parts, and too old in others.

Damn straight! They know how to build bridges and levies and flood gates.
They also know how to mine for oil in deep water AND not have the oil money benefit only those at the top.
Google The Government Pension Fund of Norway/The Petroleum Fund of Norway.
If they EVER find oil in the Bahamas I hope we follow this one example of what to do with the money instead of dumping it all in the country's economy at once causing SOARING inflation and corruption (a la Nigeria, Venezuela, etc)
