I titled it Bus Drivers for they control the bus they drive.

I was on a bus the other day and 2 kids entered the bus, about 5 and 6 and the mother was waiting outside the bus until the bus left.

Keep in mind the bus route of the driver went to thier school.

I then observed the Bus Driver tell the kids to come off and go look for thier mother, the mother then put the kids on the next stationed bus (I guess she kept her mouth because she didnt want to get into anything early that morning)

The police then came over to the Bus Driver (WITHOUT anyone saying anything to him) and asked him what was wrong? then telling him this is all in your route. The police then removed the kids from the other stationed bus and loaded them back onto the bus. (I guess he didnt like what he saw)

The Bus Driver then got up and said, everyone "get off" im not driving today, then taking down his ID from the window and removed his tie, causing the police to approach him again.

The other stationed Bus Driver had no problem with the kids being on the bus for it was on his bus route.

I dont understand why "some" Bus Driver do kids this way knowing they have to get to school just like we have to get to work.
Any comments?

By jove! I was meaning to start a thread on this very same topic.

I have witnessed allot of bus drivers refuse school kids on the bus, particularly when school is out. Some of them don't like to pick up school kids because they claim they destroy the interior of the bus with grafitti, leave garbage, and are loud and ruckus. Regardless however, I do think it poses a problem, because if the majority of bus drivers refuse to pick up kids, these kids are left waiting or buses sometimes till 5 pm, and that can pose a safety hazard especially when time reverts back to EST. It gets dark quickly, and you will still have allot of young kids particularly in primary still struggling to get home.

when we were in school the bus drivers use to pass us by (come 230) wont even stop---they ddint care! I had the misfortune of catchign the bus around 3 one day with those terrible northwestern(think govt high *10) children on it and so many cuss words, smart arse, loudness, rudeness, jam pack like sardines on that bus till it wasnt funny...I vowed never again!

but seriously a school bus system should be instituted...if its a problem with parents and having their children loafing around till 5_ the school should institute after- care programs.

I think a school bus system is an excellent idea. But of course, I can hear the public bus drivers complaining that such a system would affect their gains.

The reason why bus drivers drive like they do, is because many policemen own a jitney. They buy the bus, put it on the road and hire the driver. The driver pays the first $250 per day to the owner, and the rest is his. That's why they drive like a bat out of hell. And they are largely unmolested by the police for the awful driving, because the police are the owners.

I hear that a new bus plan is coming. Many people are preparing for it. One of the features is that buses will be regulated. As a result, the fare will be going up from $1.00.

I suspect that the reason that the police put the kids back on the bus, is that because as an owner, they want the dollar per kid.

Times are a changing when it comes to the buses. If you read the newspapers, Reuben Rahming from the Transportation Association says that he is ready for war to change the system.

the safety and concern on a child is far more important that those who depend on others but themselves to hustle for they own dollar! pay them no mind.

I agree. My daddy drives bus part-time in FPO. He owns his plate. My pops is an 'old -school gentleman" so he would never drive like a nut or carry on like some of these drivers.

The other day he told me they have over 1000 plates issued in FREEPORT AND NASSAU that nobody uses.

I asked him why the government doesn't reclaim these plates.

He said the folks would be madder than all hell if they did that. Folks would be coming out of the drywall and neither party wanted to piss away those votes.

He also said the drivers are very stubborn. Like almost everyone in the country, few really deep down trust any government to put in a better solution.

It saddens me to see kids still on the bus stop 8.30-8.45 (thats when Im running late ...lol) and knowing in the back of my mind, they were on the bus stop from 8.00 and some 1-2 buses passed them by.....

When I was catching the bus thier were certain buses I never caught due to thier wreckless hoggish driving ways, I have even been on buses (happened more than twice) where the bus driver took over in traffic just to meet eye to eye with the bus in front of him just to stick up his middle finger (I dont find that funny at all - but trust me a few passengers did)

Well I used to see that all the time when my kids used to catch bus to school.
For me that was torture because it seems like NO ONE CARED at all. I used to take my kids on the bus stop & put them on the bus then I will go home, but one day I watch the bus going in another direction , I was sooo mad but I prayed for my son to get to school safe & he did. But he told me the bus driver turn on his music and went downtown first too pick up kids & then the bus driver gone to farrington road .I had every lisense plate numbers of these bus drivers and the name & color on the bus too. They used to also tell me I am too over protected.

ooh ok very interesting. I had problems one time when my kids was catching the bus & the POLICE on the bustop put them on a bus what I know will go downtown first so I went to the police and ask him WHY he put my kids on that bus ? So he ask me why I asked I told him because that bus will go off his route and go downtown first all the police said to me after that was ORR. So I told him if anything happens to my kids downtown I will make a complaint on him but I said this after I got his police number of his shirt also I rememeber the police and the busdriver had a hand shaking thing what I see them gangs is do.
