Talk about this article, which said to the entire Caribbean that the Bahamas has nothing but illiterate people; and it is a "cultural" thing.

This latest attack on your emotional intelligence, is courtesy of the folks over at the Nassau Institute. White Bahamians primarily, with no better sense to understand that we have a very comparable literacy rate in the Bahamas to the rest of the Caribbean; considering that we have undermanned and under funded education facilities. But, they would continue to send out "wrong" and seemingly racist sentiment across the board, wired to the entire Caribbean about a total cultural pervasiveness in our lack of education. I wonder if those idiots included themselves as Bahamian too.

I see why sensible black Bahamians have to invalidate some of these white Bahamian folks out West and East. They never have anything positive to say about us ever at all. It is like they hate us still. Why would you even wire such a foolish statement, void of any statistical facts to back anything up!?!?

WHY!?!?!

My God. Don't you think Rick Lowe and those people over at NI, should be able to show a little respect for black people who are their countrymen!?!? Or, have something better to do like actually making a real independent study about education, void of the cultural epithets and racist innuendo!?!

Have spoken to that arrogant, high school educated prick before and he is even WORSE than Rory when Rory has had a few buds. And just as smug as CG, but just that CG plays religion.
:taped2:

You got mad with Fred Mitchell airing dirty laundry in Barbados, although he had a right to as a political spokesperson and did not make any personal or cultural attack on any one sect “blatant or innuendo”. So, I would assume you would get equally upset at just not the NI playing politics, but playing dirty mind-games with racially motivated cultural epithets, directed towards your emotional intelligence.

I make no apologies for anything said right and here right now. Decent white Bahamians have a home in the Bahamas, but racist goons like Rick Lowe and CG and the rest of those people, need to get out and stay out, or be dragged out as they do NOTHING for this countries emotional, intellectual and mental well being. They have nothing but jeers and racist innuendo.

For the majority of them being brain-dead social/cultural misfits, they should be happy we do not take the time to confront them regularly on how much they hate average Bahamians!

What’s worse is that you have the Tribguardian, aiding and abetting in beating that down into your mentality. Berating you, telling you point blank you ain’t worth crap and it is a cultural thing why you ain’t worth crap as well as dumb and illiterate and stupid. Like we are not supposed to have the sense to understand that you hate us. Like we are not supposed to pick up on when you make these stupid, ignorant and racist remarks.

I don’t know how long the Bahamian people should take this type of foolishness from these people. I know most average Bahamians don’t even care what the NI has to say, because no one takes them that serious; in fact, if you ask the average Bahamian what is the Nassau Institute, they would probably ask you to repeat that question and then ask YOU to tell THEM what is the Nassau Institute.

However, in the spirit of all of us coming together the proper way, these people must be denounced, called out and dragged into the public sphere for the innuendo slinging, racist cowards that they are. What they do to your emotional intelligence, needs to be called out as well and they should be exposed, and hit with hard fire and brimstone for all its worth until they retreat like the little lambs they are, no love. No fighting back and forth via slinging cowardly innuendo like they do, but they need to get an East Street roll out all the time. No love. At all.

Hit at them until they run back into their corner, as they are not fit to socialize with the rest of us decent people; white or black. They carry too much racist baggage. They cant get over it, so, since they have a problem, give them something to cry about. In fact, I wish that they would truly NEVER socialize with us as at this point; it is shown that they have little respect for any average Bahamian, and what they have to offer would poison us all.

Until they can prove that they are fit to live in the Bahamas, and learn to treat our resources with due care and attention, anytime these people come out with this utter garbage and borderline racist remarks, they need to get a swift response. Don’t care who don’t like it, or who throws innuendo or who plays little lamb. They are cowards. They hide behind their white circle of economic oppression. They run these companies, and they know lackeys who kiss their tail end for scraps would protect them over getting ahead for themselves. This is how they have been trained. They need to be housebroken….badly!

I know that maybe we should continue to give them the silent treatment, but, they don’t deserve to be treated that nicely. I know staying silent on their tail ends, hurts them even more as we show them we just don’t care whether they live or die right now. But, not this time around….we need to get them “fixed”, as they want to play in the game, they get game treatment!

I een post it to get any particular response. I posted it to show how I feel.

If it gets read, and it hits a nerve, like this article did to me, it hits a nerve. But, I would not tell you that I think this article and the people who published it are full of flap-doodle.

This one is easy

Bahamian culture should once AGAIN be synonymous with educational excellence.

It used to be that way. Our kids who went off to college in the 50'-80's where ALWAYS on the honor roll. People BRAGGED about us.

Parents stressed education. We saw education as the GOLDEN TICKET. These days we treat education like THE BIG SHOW!

You can still paste in the shack, shake ya leg at rape n' scrape, dive conch of da dock, etc and value education.

his response deserves mentioning.

I like the idea of the nassau institute its just the people behind it that give me a bad taste in my mouth and im sure many other Bahamians dont give it much traction for that reason (people can pretend all day but their authentic selves always shines bright). Objectivity is ne thing but the way that piece was written- by a supposed Bahamian nonetheless you would think they were gloating at the perilous state of the Bahamian education system like we dont care we saying it just to laugh at blacky to the rest of the Caribbean/British Commonwealth...then the nerve in quoting patterson and mcworther two self-loathing uncle toms gave me enough reason to disregard anything in that article. Black people are not an homogenous brew. The Bahamian experience with racism, slavery et al would not ever equate to what black americans endured nor the Brazilians, Cubans, Haitian...we need our own researchers, social scientist and educators putting a face on our problems and telling us how to go about solving them.

Why attack the messenger? Solutions? Any talking monkey can rant and rave.Show them better than you can tell them. You cannot beat the white man, so you may as well join him, trust me. Are we satisfied with our current situation? Should we play nice and pretend that everything is as it should be? I beleive in tough love, and telling it like I see it. The truth is we cannot afford to continue on or current path with all the money that we are spening to educate everyone. Every society has an underclass, and the only way to have numbers in that unfortuate group at an irreducible minimum, is to build a society where people advance on merit, and hard work and hustle.Your political masters, unfortunately, are anathema to such a vision. They beleive in patronage, and political favours to secure their own position, just like you do!

What do you do - other that make a damn fool of yourself on the web? Spouting out your ill informed nonsense. When I look at the problems that plague this nation there is someone like you at the root of it.

sir:

we'd be doing the entire country a huge favour to leave aside the tired charge of racism. are you aware that the nassau institute was founded by afro-caribbean men, from the bahamas and jamaica?

education SUX here, plain and simple. and without education, no one will be leaving the minimum-wage classes, white OR black.

They need to find a better way to bring their ideas, if they have any decent ones, to the forum instead of this cowardly racist innuendo.

97% average literacy is "ok"......we are slightly above where most of the Caribbean is. Quit bashing us without the TRUTH to the facts, and find ways to fix the system in education where we get MAXIMUM returns on our human resources from what we put into them.

This smart-azzed LSE grad has no BGCSEs...... NOT ONE SINGLE BGCSE...not even in Art....I know what I am talking about!
:realmad:
These people, with their myopic vision and stupid mimicking of something they heard on some talk forum, left me for dead and did not look back and in fact, don't even care. I don't have any words to mince with them, or anyone who does not have a meaningful plan for education; especially if they tint it with racial slurs and commentary!

Quit bashing us, and help change this stupid system. I have no love for people who don't see, or can't see the system and its flaws for all it's worth. Because, as smart as I know our leadership is, to not do something meaningful is sinister on their part; Carl Bethel and Ida Poitier.

that old stat of 97% literacy hasn't been accurate for more than ten years, thanks to overcrowding and under-budgeting at our school network throughout the country.

i don't know about the town hall meetings that you can get to, but black and white bahamian parents on ELEUTHERA at least are screaming to the high heavens over the lack of resources being afforded our next generation, never mind the millions of dollars being made on films being shot on location in the out islands, hotel and room taxes etc. that disappear into the nassau stinkhole, never to be seen again.

if we don't stop swallowing the convenient scapegoat of racism sometime soon, we will never get out of our own way to get the necessary things done. if we wait on government, we will be waiting until dilly turn hot pink!
