On September 6th 2007, the Women’s Association of the Free National Movement (FNM) elected the Seabreeze Constituency’s Vice Chairman, Attorney Elizabeth E M Thompson as its President for a two year term.
Among those on Ms. Thompson’s team are Sandra Pearce Knowles, Pamela Miller and Jackie Newton, Vice Presidents; Genevieve McIntosh, Treasurer; Adelecia Campbell and Pauline Williams, Assistant Treasurers; Secretary, Abigail Unita Minns; Assistant Secretaries, Maria Campbell and Clarice Butler; Chaplain, Carmeletha Musgrove; Assistant Chaplain, Chewuakii Symonette; Council Representative, Zelma Dean; Executive Member, Margaret Rodgers, and, Trustees, Amarylis Bethel, Lavern Gardiner, Ruth Wong, Sharon Lewis , Lavern Bowe, Erma Williams and Marsha Thompson.
This dynamic team is fully equipped to carry out the mission of expanding the party’s agenda to fill the wide tent of the FNM and to fulfill the goals and aspirations of women in The Bahamas.
Since the FNM’s victory in May of this year, many more women have joined the FNM. Ms. Thompson is ready to encourage even more women from all walks of life and from every island in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to join the Women’s Association.
“This is an exciting time for the FNM, The Bahamas and certainly for me," she said.
"Women of The Bahamas can expect me to be a spokesperson for them as we build bridges not only within our party, but to women in the Caribbean region and the rest of the world.
"I look forward to the continued appreciation and celebration of the achievements of our foremothers and a renewed hope for the future aspirations of all Bahamian women.”
Ms. Thompson thanked the previous Executive Committee headed by former President Carron Shepherd for their service to the Women’s Association and to the party.
