Obie Wilchombe ain nuttin but a hypocrite, he was the member of Parliament for that area and had more than 2 years to help those people, instead he did nothing. All of the UNACCOUNTED funds and building supplies from N.E.M.A, that was donated and sent to Grand Bahama could have helped the rest of those people relocate.
chancellor 09-20-07, - 05:07 PM That's what lifting Bahamians up is about isn't it? Keeping them in trailer homes....
That's what lifting Bahamians up is about isn't it? Keeping them in trailer homes....
then complaining when someone else hasnt fixed the problem they caused :D
chancellor 09-20-07, - 05:12 PM If you mind some people, they would be there forever. Some people simply refuse to move on, or do not want to.
wide eye 09-20-07, - 05:21 PM Obie needs to pull his head out of his *****. What happened to all that NEMA money? As the MP he should have fixxed this years ago. What on earth are these people doing in a trailer three years down the line? Once again the PLP and Obie are slamming the FNM over a situation they created and did not have the balls to deal with. What a bunch of losers pissing and moaning not helping just hating, little fricken girls! They looked out for themselves for 5 years and ignored the real issiues, and now he makes noise, get a grip!
Tafadhali 09-20-07, - 05:27 PM double wides are unsafe in a hurricane belt/zone...the people lost their homes last time- they will lose their lives if they stay in those trailers if a hurricane hit this season. this was a bad move...talk about bright ideas!

Seymour said there are also persons who just walked in and picked up residence, and "another category of persons who were living with their parents during the storm and their parents' homes were affected."
"They went to the trailers with their parents and when their parents left they determined that they would remain, when they should have gone on with their parents," he said.
I bet a good portion of them are :
1.squaters who saw an empty house and moved in.
2. young folks who had no house, and didn't wanna move back in with mummy and daddy.
Lots of peopel in West End and EMR are still realing. Being without steady work at the Royal Oasis worsened this situation.
Still they 'carn jes Move into an empty trailer without permission.
The NEMA money these folks shoulda' gotten was tiefed!. Lets start there lookin for some answers.

If these people had gotten the NEMA money directly, it would be gone by now with nothing to show. Housing should have been put in place via Ministry. Too late now, no doubt.

what exactly were you inferring?
Because from my vantage point my thinking is that of course-the money, by now-wouldve been gone, they woulve used it to buy necessities and fix up their dwellings.
this is hurricane season- those trailers are unsafe!

I think he is saying that a percentage of our "intellectually challenged" citizens would have gotten that $45K cheque to fix their home, cashed it, and booked on the next Discovery sailing to Lauderdale smoking out of Freeport Harbour to buy Li'l Johnnie an Ipod.
3 months later they would have been looking up at us, John Q. Taxpayer, poor mouth.
We've all seen it. A hotel lays off, BEC, Batleco, etc. They give the severance money. 2 months later, every one deeper in debt (with fancy Escalades).
Not all mind you. We still gat plenty Bahamians wit common sense. They jes don't wind up complaining in DA PUNCH!

...just wanted to be sure...I alway try to accentuate the positive.
quietly, I need these people to help themselves if they see the money get tief and help een on the way- well at least the kind of help they thinking about.

You took the words right out of my mouth. This is scary, we think too much alike.
Except unpegging the BSD from the USD, but I may be leaning a bit. That should be for another topic.
runner 09-20-07, - 10:18 PM any of these people working?how come we been paying light bills for these people?
Ken Russell said the light bill for the last 3 months total some $16,000.00.
Who suppose to pay that? Why should i poay someone else's light bill?
bahamiangoddess 09-20-07, - 10:35 PM Those people just like the people who were housed in the Royal Oasis Hotel in Grand Bahama, they will never move, they believe that the Government is responsible to put a roof over their heads and feed them.
I wonder what the water bill is and the damage to the Four Seasons trailers.
