You best be carful Rory, the Iranian money is called a real, they may call for jihad on your blasphemus remarks about their money. Ting-um 09-20-07, - 05:35 PM Bahamian dollar still pegged to the US?? So yall should be thanking Bernanke for lowering rates and further devaluing the US and, by default, Bahamian dollar. If you thought a loaf of bread was expensive before...just wait.. Sunnyjohn 09-20-07, - 05:37 PM Bahamian dollar still pegged to the US?? So yall should be thanking Bernanke for lowering rates and further devaluing the US and, by default, Bahamian dollar. If you thought a loaf of bread was expensive before...just wait.. Man, I jes hand dis fight wit dis set about we US dollar peg yesterday. Dey 'ein wanna listen. Rory 09-20-07, - 05:38 PM You best be carful Rory, the Iranian money is called a real, they may call for jihad on your blasphemus remarks about their money. all Iranian$ blong 2 us Sunnyjohn 09-20-07, - 05:42 PM all Iranian$ blong 2 us It belong to Rory. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran is a nut and he 'ein ga come lookin fa me say I gat he money. Not dis Sunny! LOL! (The regular Iranians/Persians are kewl though, especially the younger set. They like the US and UK and Western stuff). NetConnect 09-20-07, - 05:44 PM I didn't read the link, but did read that the Canadian dollar is about par with the USD this morning. This could be a good thing as it may bring Canadian tourist dollars here during the cold months, think about it. Yes, Sunny and I did debate this just within the last week. I am still not sure unpegging from the USd is a god thing, and yes, prices will certainly rise. Start planting now as it is getting cooler. Ting-um 09-20-07, - 05:59 PM This could be a good thing as it may bring Canadian tourist dollars here during the cold months, think about it. What makes you think more Canadians will come to the Bahamas?? And if this is true - which I'm not saying is so - wouldn't it also mean that fewer Americans will come to the Bahamas?? I can't remember Canada's population but let's assume there's a symmetry between the percent increase in Canadian tourists and percent decrease in American tourists. How about 10 percent?? Which means if you are right, 10 percent more Canadians will come to the Bahamas. Like I said I don't remember Canada's population but I'll guess its about 100 million. So that means if every Canadian came to the Bahamas then 10 million will revisit in the same year causing a 10 percent increase in Canadians. On the other hand, there are 300 million americans, if there's a 10 percent decrease that means that the Bahamas just lost 30 million visitors. A 10 million tourist gain versus a 30 million tourist loss?? How is that a good thing?? Sunnyjohn 09-20-07, - 06:06 PM My take on the peg. read post #'s 72, 75 and 78 http://www.bahamasissues.com/showthread.php?t=8007&page=6 I also have ideas on how the Bahamas could ease the pain on us citizens if we unpeg from the USD dollar, but I can't argue with emotion. We either cushion the blow today or suffer the pain tomorrow. Canada has a population of around 35 million. (Why we 'ein gat no Canada flag Maple leaf smilie???) :gi: NetConnect 09-20-07, - 06:13 PM What makes you think more Canadians will come to the Bahamas?? I do, however have an office (actually a cigar bar) across from prince George dock and do notice Canadian visitors on cruise ships, probably coming from Miami. There is a tourist market now and it may increase. The US dollar slipping will probably not alter the percentage of Americans coming here. Sunnyjohn 09-20-07, - 06:17 PM ...... Excalibur 09-20-07, - 06:28 PM http://www.cbc.ca/money/story/2007/09/20/canadiandollar.html Man, to forex trader who bought Canadian dollars and bought when it was low, they should be happy. P.S. - Yes, I am happy. garnelleo 09-20-07, - 06:29 PM Im no finance expert and all. This would also make oil more expensive (for Americans at least) as most of thier imported crude oil comes from Canada right. |
