OK - it sucks to be away from home. But one of the compensations, is that you get to see the seasons change and the glorious blast of colours in the dying leaves as Jack Frost paints the trees.

This is a bunch of fall colours that I grabbed while walking up my laneway this afternoon.

I miss that! I remember taking the train from New Your City as far north as it would go, just to see the change in the colors! Wonderful!!

Thanks fer asking. Mum is spry as ever. Still going strong. Got her driver's license finally. Still taking Celtic English at University (why a Black Bahamian woman who never stepped off Grand Bahama Island in almost seventy years wants to study about Sir Gawain, and King Arthur and such is beyond me.).

She is still making her crafts, jams, soaps etc, and has the goats. I moved out from the farm, and Miss Knowlton moved in, and her and Mum run their mafia. She still dates the old geezers at church. Mum is tall, and they come up only to her bust. She often gets asked if "they" are real, but dems is talking about her teeth.

I sent her back to Freeport this spring. She cried when she saw what Ginn did to West End, and the places that she lived as a girl. The International Bazaar is a wreck, but she had a great time as a friend took her up and down Sunrise Highway from end to end, and especially through Lucaya Park.

Mum is still milking the Bahamian ting (poor immigrant displaced by the hurricanes) at the ladies Auxilliary and in church, but truth be known, she is now running the show at these things. Sort of a reverse takeover.

So life goes on for her, and she counts her blessings every day.
