Ginn Resorts is pledging to stay the course and complete its $4 billion, full-scale vision for West End despite flagging sales — down about 62 percent from last year.

"Sales are slow," said John Davies, Ginn's senior vice-president of development. "Anybody who reads the newspaper knows that there has been a slowdown in sales in the U.S.

"But, it should be noted that we are still making sales and people are still buying."

Closing those deals, however, may have become more challenging.

What makes it worst is when the travel initiative kicks in to boot.

Hey Sunny/Ting_um,
what do you guys think about the positive US employment numbers released today. How does the low unemployment figures effect the US economy and the US recession that is coming.

The positive employment figures, like the arrivals numbers for the past two years, are essentially false. The department of statistics essentially cooks the books, according to the formula given to them by the last administration. Essentially, they do not count anymore, for example, the Grand Bahama people who lost their jobs due to Hurricanes Jean and Frances, and have stopped looking for employment. They count people who work two days a week at Baha Mar as fully employed.

The present FNM administration sees no reason to amend the formula, because they like good news too. But down the road, you will see a correction like the one that they had for the tourist arrivals, and then we will get the real numbers. For example, we had a bad year last year in tourist arrivals, and this year is 6.5% lower than last.

In what year was this formula amended to not include these persons.

if you look at what kind of jobs and pay those person are getting to be included in that employment bracket, it wont make a huge difference to our economy. They still gonna be poor.

So we need to lower our prices so we don't charge so much.

If we don't charge so much, the gov't should reduce the cost of imports

If we reduce the cost of imports, we can afford a better life by building business

If we build business we employ people

If we employ people they aren't poor so they buy more. Gov't gets its duty revenue, growing real estate tax transactions and more (not larger)business taxes.

Gov't puts revenue into education and enforcement, crime goes down.

Crime goes down, values go up.

How's that for a manifesto/plan?

Dunno but check this, Mom & Pop Store charge $4 for a pack of cigarettes, Texaco and Super Value charge $5, and Esso charging $6 now .. yet they all buy from the same distributor ... just got a dairy milk from a Texaco for $1, while the food stores got them at $1.19, and Esso them at $1.40-1.50.

WHERE is price control, does it exist in the Bahamas??

I never had a weight issue with Bacardi, but it tore my nervous system apart, but when i switched to beer, then came the weight problem .. well getting older also contributed to that along with poor diet. . but mostly was beer, lost so much weight since I stopped drinking beer :)
