http://www.jonesbahamas.com/?c=47&a=14236 I say this is WAR, they are stealing from the Bahamas and we should have no mercy. Put out adds in their newspapers and radio stating that if they are found in Bahamian waters they will be torpedoed from the air. Yes I say BOMB them! The only way we will stop this is to get crazy on them. Bomb one poacher and they will get the message LOUD AND CLEAR.

Now Wideye,

Don't you go out in ya skiff and cause no international incident. Take the DR boats and the catch. Lock them up, but ya 'carn be killing up folks.

Only Bush does bomb people all over da place!

We really need to beef up the Defense Force ASAP. Either get them 10-15 boats or form a new Bahamas COast Guard to deal with poachers.

Interesting as this morning 2 of the RBDF ships (biggins) went out from Coral Harbour and hung out in front of our house a bit. Not sure where they were headed but looked like towards Cuba or SSW.

Intresting enough the Russians are thinking about banning the catching of sturgeon FOR 5-10 YEARS in order to protect the dwindling stock and protect the future of the caviar industry.

Maybe we need to take heed as we have fished down or allowed to be poached out or conch, groupers and lobsters.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - The rich may have to take black caviar off the menu to let sturgeon stocks recover, Russia's first Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said on Friday.

Ivanov, widely regarded as a leading contender to succeed President Vladimir Putin in 2008, said he could do without caviar if sturgeon fishing was banned.

"If we banned catches for a period of time then I would certainly survive," Ivanov told an investment conference in Russia's Black Sea resort of Sochi, RIA news agency reported.

Ivanov, 54, said black and red caviar, and crab meat was not an essential part of an everyday diet and he could do without his caviar "ration" for five to seven years.

No.

I don't think we should have a total ban in the Bahamas. We should probably have a conch off season for 60 days a year maybe. Perhaps at the start of crawfish season when the fishermen are occupied with that.

The conch is shrinking and the lionfish dem is eating everything in sight. It is scary.

The reason i say bomb the scum is the fact that our police and defense force CANNOT get vessels to where they are at in time. They know this! Therefore if they are going to play dirty why can't we? They are fishing way out in our territorial waters where they know they will never be run down. Well you bomb one of their ships and they will most definatly get the message. We cannot afford to have a defense force vessel out there at all time but we sure can patrol by air. Put some bombs on the airplane and go get em. You might only have to drop a bomb next to their ship to get their attention. Tell them to set course for nassau or the nearest port or the next bomb will be on their heads. As soon as they get the message that we don't play this crap will stop quick, fast, in a hurry!

The real problem as I see it is.

No enforcement of laws.

We have poachers, as stated in an ongoing thread.

Bahamian coming into breading areas and poaching undersized conch and crawfish. Re: Adelaide Cove area as I witness this every weekend out here.
