Well, the conference on "non communicable diseases" (in quotes for justaguy), just wrapped up and we got to the bottom of nothing aside from the price of fish; literally.
In any event, I shall not dwell on that, as it is the only piece of news I can truly get on in a bad light in any event. But, there has been some good news in the news as of late.
Low and behold...someone found out that the movie industry, can affect tourism in a "significant way". So said Brannie-Mac at something he was speaking at. The news agent liked him so much that they had him word for word. Well, he did make sense; it's just that this idea was hashed out about two years ago, after we saw the success of Casino Royale. In any case, at least he knows what’s a good deal, and not just trying to sound revolutionary.
Another issue, and something that went by very quickly, is the fact that they, the FNM government, has NOT signed the EPA with the EU. But, instead, will take they will take until (I forgot the time) to make up their minds. The EU has given until Dec 31st. They, the EU, have really been strong-arming African and Caribbean countries to sign this trade pact, and, my own personal opinion is, as with the other "dodgy" elections we had in Jamaica, St. Lucia and the Bahamas, we will see the same thing in Trinidad with a change in government to boot.
I, more often than not, blame the US for meddling in the affairs of smaller countries. While this may be true, I think we should not underplay the role, and the disgusting role that European countries, with France in the lead, has played in developing countries in regards to getting their agenda pushed forth.
Now, this is just my opinion, but, would not underplay that these strange occurrences in Caribbean elections, are seen in tandem with the failure of the then governments, to reach an agreement on the "borderline" intrusive trade agreement from the EU. My God, some of the things almost explicitly state their direct involvement in state run utilities. We have to be careful, and as they, the FNM, said they up and signed an agreement they were not in on with the negotiations, now to say that they are NOT signing it just yet, and have not signed it, going against reports in the Trib-Guardian, and ARE looking things over, leaves me confused and thankful that if they did hold back, IF THEY DID AND ARE NOT LYING; they should really review THAT CONTRACT. As the PLP had stalled in pushing it forward, they should look very carefully to what was on the table, and try best to get that Archer man "right in the head", in regards to his overzealousness for trade pacts regardless of what is in them.
So, here is my word for this good Sunday. As for me, I am going through challenges. I start a new job on Monday, and am looking for a place by the end of the month. Keep prayers alive for your Alien.
