Chief Superintendent Hulan Hanna said the "daring" attack on the deceased took place around 10:15pm at the Farmers’ Market on Blue Hill Road south.

According to police reports, the victim – Andy Williams, 27 – was standing near his car when he was approached by a man from the area of the Golden Gates Shopping Centre.

The assailant shot Williams who then attempted to run away, however, he collapsed a short distance away, Mr. Hanna said.

The gunman then stood over his victim and shot him several more times, Chief Superintendent Hanna added.

Let us be fair, crime has nothing to do with any lawmaker unless they are the one committing the crime. I believe that the difficulty that people had with mother Pratt, was not that she was somehow responsible for crime, but that she seemed prepared to tolerate crime and to coddle criminals. we have rules, and institutions that the criminal must go through and come before, respectively. The polices' job is primarily to detect crime, which they are very good at. They may able to deter crime by increasing their presence, but that costs a lot of money, and the policy makers are not prepared it would seem to move in numbers in this direction. The main problem is the legal system..too much work, and not enough workers at the AG's office, and in the Courts. Then there is the prison which is too small, and there is no money to build a new one when measured against competing priorities.

It would be better simply if we respected each other's property, did not covet, and all those other things that Moses warned us about, but we will not see it until geesus returns.

In Grand Bahamas things are so backed up in the court system it is down right criminal!

The Freeport magistrate went on vacation and all heck broke loose in the backlog. We still have not replaced the magistrate who resigned (I think 2 years ago).

Court Systm Flooded
By K. NANCOO-RUSSELL
Freeport News Reporter

With Helen Jones, the one magistrate manning the Freeport Magistrates Court, on vacation, Deputy Registrar Stephana Saunders has taken on extra duties to ease the overload of cases flooding the system.
Yesterday, the court was packed to capacity with persons lining the stairwell waiting to have their matters heard. Unfortunately for them, those matters had to be adjourned due to the lack of magistrates available to hear the cases. At present, Saunders is only hearing first pleas and assigning adjourn dates.

Frustrated by the fact that the nation's second city has been without adequate sitting magistrates for nearly a year, local attorney K. Brian Hanna yesterday voiced his displeasure with the slow process of justice in Grand Bahama as a result of this....
