Just heard on ZNS news that another young man lost his life early last night. He is believed to be between 14 and 16 years old. He was found at the lower level of The Town Center Mall with gunshots to the stomach. He was wearing a white shirt with the CV Bethell logo and may have been a student of that school.

When will this end? Sad! So very, very sad. It seems that many of our young people have no value for the life of others.

Since there is no real punishment for the crime .. what does one expect. Many of the serious criminals end up out on bail, or simply out of prison within a couple years - they dont care anymore.

I hear what you are saying, but is there any data available on whether perpetrators such as the ones that we have now even consider their consequences or it is that they are so determined to kill their target that they care not about anything else, especially at the height of their passion? I have heard that, especially in drug crimes, that it is more about the "principle" than anything else. When love, spurned love, etc,. is the motive, is it possible that though the thinking may be different, that the perpetrators are equally as determined as a dope boy would be? We should think more about capital punishment being just that punishment as opposed to wishing that it deters people. If it does, good, but deterrence should not be the goal, but at least we do not have to continue the debate, ad nauseum.

If a person thinks there is no consequences for their actions, they will go ahead and perform that action. Basically there is nothing to deter them, and confessed murderers in the Bahamas have already said on the record, that they know there is no execution here, so they dont care.

Ya know,

Even if we decide to stop executing, we could still punish criminals.

If a 20 year old knew the penalty for murder was life no parole or that he was gonna be in prison working in the hot sun farming to grow food for us the Bahamas to feed himself and his meager prison pay going to take care of the victims children and pay for his keep for the next 45 years and that he would get out of jail as a 65 y.o. senior citizen....

They don't want to be productive on the outside? Why execute when we need strong backs to grow food so we could stop importing! Put them to work on the inside. They wanna act like donkeys? Then put them to the plow like a mule.

The way these set think is that IF they get catch they MIGHT spend seven years in Fox Hell. They have no fear of the law, period! Now this government says that they doupt they will hang anymore, so why check, just shoot. Thats they way they think and we are paying with lives left, right, and centre. Somthing will give soon enough if the powers that be do not or will not get a handle on the situation.

Just how killing terrorists will not end terrorism, killing criminals will not end the crime.

I know I sound like a scorched record, but until we start to address the issues around why the murder rate is so high, we will get nowhere. Why are there so many guns on the street? the poverty? the lack of respect we have for each other as human beings? we need to get it together. more guns = more gun crime. unless and until we start to discuss these issues, we cannot find a resolution. point blank.

The Punishment MUST match the crime. Someone that brutally stabbed another person to death, should also be stabbed to death. Someone that shot another person to death, should also be shot to death. It is only fare, in fact, the criminal should experience it 10 fold - not just an eye for an eye, but a leg, foot, hand, head ... for an eye!!!

Ok ... a comparison closer to home though .. Like how Killing Rats will not end Rats (in fact when other rats smell the dead rats body fluids they just come there to make a new home then breed like mad) .. or Killing Flies will not End Flies .. same with roaches ... etc ;)

Jesus came to free us from the law.

If you are going to keep capital punishment on the books, fine.

Just fix our crappy legal system with all the bail problems, Lack of sentencing guidelines, lack of magistrates, neglectful prosecution, police nonsense and loopholes.

Fix that and criminals won't get out on bail or walk be released by accident while awaiting trial because of a name mixup. (yes, that DID happen THIS YEAR) to murder folks.
