There are a lot of robberies going on now.

Someone i know was broken into in the middle of the night, tied up at gun point, he had a gun stuck down his throat, pillow over his head, was beaten, gun butted, and started to cut off his finger and threatened they would cut off one finger at a time until he told them where the safe was! He did and they got away.

The criminals were organised, and experienced in interogation of this kind. 1 was a younger one 'in training' as the 2 older ones said in the middle of the attack.

So beware, lock all windows, doors, get an alarm for window or yard protection, security screens or bars, and just be careful arriving home. This is not the only time this has happened recently. There are more. This is not subject to just one area or type of area, this was not a rich neighborhood, but the same has just recently happened twice in Lyford Cay. These guys are probably getting around, probably with a 4th for lookout and driver. I wonder what will happen if the victim does not have a safe!?

One thing I have noticed first hand, when the police are called to check on an alarm, they come in force, guns ready and that is good.

Thanks Rory, "Fore warned is fore armed."

I wonder how many people know what to do in a situation like that? There was once a book, directed to new parents, called "What to do before the Baby comes." Perhaps we need a book called, "What to do before the Police get there!"

Let me tell you a story of a lady that was a student of mine. I used to teach self-defense. I teach that every thing in your house can become a deadly weapon, and how to use them, she learned her lessons well. She was cooking up a batch of Hush Puppies (kind of like a fritter, I think) in her New York apartment. She had a quart pot of hot fat on the stove. She had just deposited her last spoon full of the mixture into the scalding fat when a man appeared at behind her. He had broken in the front door. He stood there with a knife and demanded money. Without hesitation she flung the contents of the pot in his face. As he screamed in agony, she dropped the pot and picked up a cast iron skillet, in which she had been frying Pork Chops and smashed him over the head! When the police arrived, they carried away what was left of him. She knew what to do, "before the baby arrives!"

To many of us think our bells, alarms, guns, dogs will take care of the situation. Don't get me wrong, there are a great help but they are just the first line of defense. One must know what to do after the bells go off, or if they don't go off at all (because we forgot to set them!)

Yep, this guy didnt even have time to get his gun, though it was only a couple feet from him, they came in so fast. An alarm is only to alert you, possibly scare the criminal away, if you are lucky. You should have a voice driver for the siren that sais, CG get your gun (gi/nunchucks) now, a perp is breaking in :D

Yes, all these thing happen fast. You have to be faster.
Perhaps he though his gun was his only weapon?

I heard one that did the Navy Battle stations call, at an ear splitting volume, "ALL HANDS MAN YOUR BATTLES STATIONS, ALL HANDS......." Then it gave the dive siren of a Submarine! Then the Cavalry Bugle Charge. It would scare the (whatever) out of anyone.

No one, in a situation like that has time to think, he must react! In this case he reacted correctly, or as correctly as the circumstances allowed. He is still alive? He did OK!

Did he have alarms etc.? If so they failed him.

Nope, he has an alarm now (alarm screens), plus security screens and bars.

That's true. Crime increases with the gap between rich and poor. The bigger the gap the more crime. Check history- Rome, USA, Greece, all of the former countries that promoted classes. What we are experiencing is called the class war.
We need to get to the root of the problem instead of ignorant name calling like Rory is doing.

what rock did you just crawl out from under.

if someone comes into my house to rob and beat me, possibly kill me, they deserve what they get, plain and simple.

You are right The white man came to Africa and robbed, beat and kill them. they came to the bahamas and did the same thing to the locals. So now they are getting exactly what they deserve. I shot the sheriff- Bob prophecied about this. :shaky:

This was a black bahamian that was robbed in my story by the way, these criminals dont care about race, creed or politics, they will kill their own family to get some cash.
