Rizzo I agree with you. My sister brought in a bedroom set from Carl's furniture and the dresser, mirror and headboard were damaged. Tropical refused to help, customs got thier full duty and Carl's they say its her problem. She was screewed and very disappointed.
She bought the rest of here furniture locally here in Freeport and they deliver and set up and if there is a problem you send it back in the truck and then send out a next piece in perfect condition.
Yes it may seem like you pay more when comparing to the price you pay at first but by time you add the rest and the hastle and delays the local stores are the way to go. And its good to support local stores. El Dorado dont support no charities in the Bahamas like the local stores do. I always see Furniture Plus giving donations in the papers.

From my recent experience buying some furniture in Nassau,I pray I never have to go through that again. BUT, I really doubt I would bring it in from the US either, it could get damaged just the same.

she shoudlnt have told them she was in the Bahamas
she shouldve called corporate and exclaimed to them that she would black their names with the whole consumer friendly Bahamas- when you **** with people pockets they tend to listen.
Did she get insurance on her shipment?

man you have to fight and scream for what you know is right!

Listen friend, you in Grand Bahama...jump on the discovery and go to Florida and get you some furniture. Dont mess with Nassau. For the price you pay for a set in Nassau you could pay for your trip, your car, your hotel, your furniture, your food on the trip, dem pretty little foolishness you ga pick up for the kids, shipping back to GB, customs..and still have change. (specially Furniture Plus..run away screaming)

lol

When you tell them to deliver to tropical to ship to the bahamas they know you are in the bahamas. Yes hse paid for insurance and torpical did nothing claims they wrote on the deilvery ticket the boxes were mashed but instead of them sending back to carls they accepted them so they blame carls.

It just aint worth it better to Shop locally for big items like furniture.

Rory, pray tell us what happen. She looking for help. Who you buy it from and what happen?

Bought a bed, it came with ripped up plastic and full of dirt, they came back and replaced it though after I called and complained. Took about 2 weeks to get the bed in the end.

Bought a desk, it was also delivered, and it was delivered when I was on my way out (no prior time set up) so they left if and I had to put it together myself. It had scratched up and some broken pieces. Finallly after a week got them to deliver another one, it also came damaged, did not even let them take that one out of the truck, it was sitting underneath 20' of metal and other heavy furniture and stuff. Went to them and looked inside their storage area and found other such furniture damaged, foot prints all over it, etc. After about 3 weeks I managed to get the desks taken back and got my money back, went to another store and got the cheapest thing they had, which was on display and already built, and had a colleague help with pick it up in his truck to make sure it would not get damaged.

Got a fridge, time delivered was good, had some issues with it in the beginning and noone ever turned up to check out the problem, but figured it out myself. Anyway, when they delivered it they scratched the new tile.

Thats it for now. Typically storage and delivery problems.

That is why I wanted the names of some stores. Next time I go to Nassau I will check and compare with the USA.
I am currently renting turnkey and we need to purchase our furniture when we move there

Some of the stores have websites and the prices arent too different from El Dorado and Rooms to Go.

Thanks all again!!!:)
