Listen friend, you in Grand Bahama...jump on the discovery and go to Florida and get you some furniture. Dont mess with Nassau. For the price you pay for a set in Nassau you could pay for your trip, your car, your hotel, your furniture, your food on the trip, dem pretty little foolishness you ga pick up for the kids, shipping back to GB, customs..and still have change. (specially Furniture Plus..run away screaming)

^^^ I agree with pp. Especially about Furniture Plus. They are way too expensive.

Actually I need it for Nassau. Is it still better to purchase everything in Florida?

Best Buy and Roberts are a couple others. I think that other one in Palmdale is called Multi Discount Furniture?

well if u worried bout the price i would suggest selling what you have in grand bahamas. move to nassau, then fly to florida shop for your furniture there to be shipped back to nassau.

it would make sense shipping furniture to grand bahamas only to have to ship them to nassau.

i thought u wouldnt be worried bout the price becuase you are expats.

Thanks for the advise. I was teasing you as you put Shakira. In any case all Expats arent rich people ;)
I think I will check the stores in Nassau and see for prices and then see about bringing them to Nassau from Florida.
Thank you so much everybody!!

Umm....I don't think people take into consideration the cost of shipping and customs, when they talk about buying furniture from th US. Not to mention the furniture coming with missing parts, etc., delays, or lost shipments. LOL ( I know someone who had all 3 happen to them.)

In my opinion, the only advantage to getting furniture in the US, is the variety of items available.

I used to think Furniture Plus was expensive, because of what other people told me. That was until I went in to check for myself. I got a solid wood, queen sized bedrrom set, with headboard, footboard, frame, chestdrawer, two nightstands, dresser, & mirror, all for $2,100.

Now, compare that to what you may find in El Dorado, City Furniture, Rooms to Go, etc. and tell me what you get by the time you are done adding in shipping and customs, delivery to your home, and installation/setup.

Not to mention the warranty is basically out of the window on furniture and appliances from the states, unless you are going to pay to send it back.

Rizzo I agree with you. My sister brought in a bedroom set from Carl's furniture and the dresser, mirror and headboard were damaged. Tropical refused to help, customs got thier full duty and Carl's they say its her problem. She was screewed and very disappointed.
She bought the rest of here furniture locally here in Freeport and they deliver and set up and if there is a problem you send it back in the truck and then send out a next piece in perfect condition.

Yes it may seem like you pay more when comparing to the price you pay at first but by time you add the rest and the hastle and delays the local stores are the way to go. And its good to support local stores. El Dorado dont support no charities in the Bahamas like the local stores do. I always see Furniture Plus giving donations in the papers.
