Sunnyjohn 10-09-07, - 10:34 AM The Securities Commission will seek the input of Bahamian investors on draft legislation for a new act governing itself and the financial institutions entrusted with their money.
"We are looking at releasing the draft legislation in the next couple of weeks," said the Commission's executive director Hillary Deveaux, referring to a proposed replacement for the current Securities Industry Act, 1999. "Part of the three-month consultation phase that follows will be a sort of town meeting, or public consultation meeting, that will allow (the Commission) to get the input of investors as part of the national community of (stakeholders).

I am too cynical in my life right now to take any of this serious.
I think what would happen is, we would send in amounts of letters, and give political wannabe's and suck up's talking points for a lifetime.
When they put the money on the table, then call me. Hillary is an LSE grad, he knows the score.

Yea. Town meetings are allways seriously planned. But, if anything were to come out of them, aside from grandstanding for a few "politicians" or "politicians in training", I would be astonished.
At best, it would be a really neat networking event. But, don't expect to get your monies worth. And while we are on money, someone get a tuck shop on the spot asap. This is an opportunity for a little sandwich vendor, to make a few extra pennies.

Tuck Shop Enterprises is already on it. :bouncy:
Seriously though, please keep all eyes peeled for the draft and notices for the town meetings.
Ting-um 10-10-07, - 10:25 AM I won't be able to make any sort of town meeting. But if given the opportunity to voice my opinion I will certainly make the effort to do so. Others may want to denegrate any effort to help but I'd prefer to be denegrated rather than to be silenced.
