Bolstered by an apparent assurance that the government has reinitiated work on proposed regulations to govern liquefied natural gas [LNG] projects in The Bahamas, an executive of the last remaining enterprise interested in an LNG plant in the country has not given up on being granted approval.
AES Ocean LNG has been trying for years to secure the green light for its proposed facility on Ocean Cay.
Managing Director Aaron Samson told the Bahama Journal Tuesday that he has not lost interest in The Bahamas project, despite the amount of time it has taken to nail down approval.
Mr. Samson said executives of the company recently met with Minister of State for Public Utilities Phenton Neymour to discuss the way forward for work on the LNG project.
He expressed optimism about future plans.
"We understand that the government has reinitiated the work to finish the LNG regulations and we hope that it will be finished shortly," Mr. Samson said.
He added that the company is aware that the Ingraham administration needs a considerable amount of time to review LNG....
