As I watched the news tonight, The Prime Minister was answering to allegations of victimization over the alleged firings of people in M.I.C.A.L.

Hubert Ingraham promised an investigation and brought his report to Parliament. He said that the investigations revealed that V. Alfred Gray (also the Minister for Local Government at the time) hired 59 person in M.I.C.A.L and in Andros on 3 and 6 months contract in the Ministry of Local Government. Out of the 59, 29 were placed in one (1) Administrator's office and the rest was scatterred over the rest of M.C.A.L.

Mr. Gray got up and said yes he did it, and you can't blame him for looking out for people, and "IF GIVEN THE CHANCE I WILL DO IT AGAIN."
All of this was done at the taxpayer expense and from his attitude he could care less.

I know about one from Andros, she was not told that the job was contractual and only for 3 months. Now she is unemployed and she vex. She left a steady job to take that job.

V.Arrogant Gray is just unbelievable. He should have told those people before he hired them that those jobs were short term, what he did was very deceitful to the people of M.I.C.A.L that he claims to care so much about. He abused his position as Minister for Local Government and wasted a lot the taxpayers money.

I think that we arrived at a point where all Politicians should be responsible for any abuses or corruption that occurs under their watch. It is now a common thing to see politcians caught redhanded abusing their positions and they continue to go unpunished. I would be happy to see an independent committee formed to investigate Politicians and Civil servants, for too long they have been policing themselves.

You say this about him like it is something new... In my opinion he has always been one of the most arrogant men in politics and the sad thing is that his arrogance often overrides any ounce of good that he can do.

I agree with you. what is even more disturbing is when Bahamains like proud plp and others does not see the wrong in this type of deceitful bahaviour toward the soo called poor people who needed their jobs and the audocity of Mr. gray to say that if he had the chance he will do this again taking advantage of the poor plps by their own government is very distastful. I am totally disgusted afterall they did claim that the fnm is victimizing plps hired by the former government. these were temporary hires as Mr. Gray admitted to this.

Grey do not care about these people because it costs him nothing, but he gets votes. Now if were to put 29 people in his law office then hat will demonstrate that he really does care, and it is not just a vote catching gimmick.

The best and most honest minister of local government was Marvin Pinder

The PLP knew from the start that there is no real evidence of victimization. The PLP gambled and lost. Mr Gray handled the people money like it is his own. I am waiting for him to hire 27 Bahamians and station them at his law firm on Victoria Avenue.

Let him take half and "Objective" the other half.

I would love to see ALL politrickans held responsibal for any mismanagement on their watch. Make them also monetarialy responsable for OUR money. If they over spend or waste OUR money make them pay it back and see what happens. V. Alfred GRay is a VAIN man and will do anything to keep his POWER as it has gone to his head. And all of this from a supposed Deacon in church, but what do you expect in the so called "christian nation" of the Bahamas. What a farce!

wHAT SPEND his MONEY, no way, as with most politrickans he got into politics to enrich himself not spend his money. The chickens will come home to roost before this slime spends a dime of his money. That ROLEX is cost plenty ya know!

the thing is though Pharoah, I think that the opposite may be true because he would not handle his own money that way, he would be in the poor house in no time if he did. These guys did not place these people in their own firms/companies, or in the companies of PLPs, they put them on the public payroll. Can some PLP in the know tell us how many people were hired by companies controlled by PLPs before the election?

Really, that's the point i was making. The share irony of it all. What i was really saying is that Mr Gray abused his power and mismanaged the people's money, and actually had the gaul to say he would do it again. Blow me down!!!

My question is this, Do these PLP's really think that by hiring these people they are doing what is best for the entire BAHAMAS? I know it is best for them(plp) to give these jobs out and that is what blows me away. They are looking out for themselves before the BAHAMAS, is that the kind of person we want looking out for the nation? One who puts himself at the forfront above the country is not one I would vote for! Think about it!
