Police detectives are now holding seven persons in police custody said to be assisting in the country's latest murder which occurred in Eleuthera. However, no charges have so far been filed against any of the persons being held.
Shock waves were sent through the tranquil community of Rock Sound, Eleuthera, over the weekend after the body of 65-year-old Sylvia Cates was discovered in her home on Saturday morning.
Police reported that the deceased appeared to be a victim of an armed robbery and her home was also burglarized. It is believe that Cates may have struggled with her attacker as visible scratches were seen about her body.
Officer in charge of the Central Detective Unit Superintendent Glen Miller said he is confident that someone would be charged as early as today in connection with the crime, however, he declined to give any further details, stating that it could jeopardize the investigation.
Supt. Miller said a team of officers is still on the island actively investigating the country's 59th homicide.
