View Full Version : Hurricane Frances
Bahamas Writer 09-05-04, - 03:10 PM Long Island - as often is the case, there were some alarmist reports about Long Island, which had us worried. However, my husband Erskine, who's from Mangrove Bush, was just able to speak to Chief Councillor Knowles on Long Island, who said there's only some water damage in low lying areas. Stella Maris Resort is okay and so is Cape Santa Maria.
Mangrove Bush School is due to reopen this week.

billy 09-06-04, - 04:35 AM Hi all,
I am glad to hear of the small loss of life from H. Frances. I do not mean to belittle those who did lose thier lives, my prayers are with their families. Am also in prayer that Ivan will turn far away from land and die at sea.
Has anyone heard how Gerace Research Center made it through the hurricane? I have fears that the water tower may have come down and if so it could have caused major damage. I know several people who work there by name and many more by face. I would appreciate any info on the center.
Again, my prayers are with you! Bahamians are some of the world's most friendly people. Best wishes!
Bill

"If I could,, I would trade Rush Limbaugh for Mr. Miller any day of the week. He gave the best report along with Mr. Dean and other reporters of ANY in the United States,, all we got were reporters standing outside in heavy winds showing torn apart buildings with no information of hurricanes, and no critical information that people could use. Mr. Miller should be given an award for his reporting, not criticized. We even had one reporter who when talking about "looting", said it was "to be expected"..Kudos to Mr. Miller for taking it seriously and yet being able to maintain a sense of humor, along with Mr. Dean and other reporters. People need to know the seriousness of these storms,,The problem with most "news" these days is that it seems to be more "entertainment" than information."

No information on impact of Frances at the Gerace Research Center website. I have tried to email them, no reply. Have only been able to get information on San Salvador from this website. I have even tried contacting the weather channel. Any information would be appreciated.
