The incident occurred around 3pm on Marathon Road directly across from Sky Box Sports Bar and Café.
"The man [on the scooter] was traveling at the centre of the road and the driver of the Toyota attempted to make a right turn. He collided with the rider of the motor scooter and subsequently collided with the Ford Focus. As a result of that [the man on the scooter] received severe injuries and he died at the scene."
Inspector Pinder said despite wearing a helmet, the man still sustained severe head injuries.

Note: Wear a Helmet that completely covers the head and make sure it is secured properly.

Yeah, everyone will wear their helmets for another two weeks, then they'll start riding without 'em again.
This accident is why most riders over here should have their lights on (even in the daytime) and know how to point that beam right into a driver's rear view mirror before they pass em. Laying on that horn before you pass is not a bad idea either.
Then again, some drivers on the road don't signal and are oblivious to all around them.
That's why when I get my electric, ya'll ga see me put-putting down the road with my street bike helmet on! I think I'm gonna sell my modified Chinese Harley, haven't ridden it in over a year...

How many times a day do we see scooters driving down the centre of the road passing cars with oncoming traffic in the path. How many times do we see scooters drive down the centre of the road at intersections and pass the long ine of cars and go through a red light. FAR TOO OFTEN.

Lol reminds me of why I put mine down. A lil note: Volks-Wagon doors really hurt.

And the thing is nobody cares, they have the same laws we do, they cannot ride down the middle of traffic legally any more than a car can.

When ever I see bike riders I take extra care (thats just me)
There are those who follow the road rules then there are those who dont.
For those who follow the road rules, thumbs up to ya!
Right or wrong I give them the right away to do what ever they need to do on the road because I have had some close encounters.
I was on the Marathon light gettng ready to turn right onto Robinson Road when a bike rider decided to use that same lane to head stright onto the highway, I missed him by an INCH, and you want to know why? Because I didnt make a move until I knew what he had up his sleeve.
Prevention is better than sure, if I can avoid a potential accident I try (quick thinking)

Yes thats all one can do.
I came off a moped doing full speed one time, which at that time was 30mph, I had a full helmet on, ran off the road on a bend, and lost control in sand, hit a small wall, then flipped over and ended up on the asphalt 20' down the road, helmet was cracked from that - if it was not a full helmet probably would have been dead.

I saw this yesterday. Had traffic backed up for hours.
Really unfortunate.
