the one thing that cracks me up is that the BAHAMAS as a country claims to be a Christian nation!!
Forgive me (to those true christians), but I have not seen very much christianity in Nassau in the past few years, it has been quite the contrary. Sorry but a bunch (well a heck of alot) of buildings with crosses on them does not make a country a christian country. Quoting 'Bible this' and 'bible that' will not do any good because living in Nassau I have seen first hand what the facts are. I mean no disrespect to anyone at all, but truthfully I have not seen anything that can tell me this is a christian country, besides the obvious claims. Lots of Churches do not mean anything, they are just buildings that anyone can put up. Talk is cheap.
There are obviously true christians here, and some I know personally, but that is not what I am talking about.
I would say any country that imposes religion on a person is then a problem, as religion is just a faith, and there is no proof to any faith, so noone should be persecuted for non belief of any religion.

actually i agree whole-heartedly with what you said, but like you said..this is the bahamas. Hopefully i will one day meet the type of christian that actually lives their life as a daily testament of their belief instead of simply quoting scriptures without actually doing anything.

just like iraq claims to be muslim, india claims to be hindu...and on and on!!

depends on the level you claim christianity to be.....
i am sooo tired of the old cliches..."not christian like", or "not real christians"....
first off being christian and being born again are two different things...
and
just because you claim christianity , doesnt mean you are exempt from foul, or wrong doings, with that, no one is perfect and the bible teaches us not all who come in the name are in the name...at that time....
get off of this we are all supreme kick....we all make mistakes, christians muslims and aethiests, i happen to think when it comes to moral teaching the christian way and values are very good...excellent if i may say so.
and i refuse to defend individuals you deem as unworthy to be a christian, for all the obvious reasons!
Sorry but a bunch (well a heck of alot) of buildings with crosses on them does not make a country a christian country. Quoting 'Bible this' and 'bible that' will not do any good because living in Nassau I have seen first hand what the facts are. well, you need to look again....family values and freedom of choice are hallmarks of this great country....
ethical behavior is a hallmark of this country....
fair treatment of individuals is a hallmark of this country...
equality is a hallmark of this country...
love your neighbor is a hallmark of this country...
strong family ties is a hallmark of this country
alot of the good values, even though not spoken aloud, are imbedded in our psyche, becasue of the fact we honor the christian way!
There are obviously true christians here, and some I know personally, but that is not what I am talking about.
well i know what you are talking about....and i know which side of your mouth you are speaking out of.
well maybe you should talk about the good people you have met, instead of finding fault in human imperfection.
you shouldnt place individuals on the pedastal of greatness, to your standard, and when they dont live up, bash and degrade them, when you in fact put them there in the first place.
this is the calous, flip flopped view of the opposite side of the debate that confuses me as a rational thinker!
christianity teaches us to see human beings as what they are, human beings...
the greatest apostles denied christ at the time of need...
not becasue he wasnt a follower, not becasue he was destined...
but he was a flawed human at a very specific point and time...
and to my knowledge, the judge of judges did not fault him, or condemn him or them for it!
you should do the same!
I would say any country that imposes religion on a person is then a problem, as religion is just a faith, and there is no proof to any faith, so noone should be persecuted for non belief of any religion.
the country doesnt impose the religion on you my freind....at least this country doesnt!
your family, mother and father instructs you in the way in which they have grown accostomed to, and the way they feel is best for you!
no one is forcing anything...
and where would you think up such a ridiculous thought???
if you have issues with your moms and popps on sunday or saturday morning ...then fine, if you didnt apreciate the way they worshiped fine!
but to say the whole country, and christians are at fault for your being warped....IS INSANE!
please dont look to anyone else to blame for your being confused other than your own self, and your imediate mentors!
and in that case, if you are weary and confused i would love to talk in private and discuss more of your fears...
i really would!

they are everywhere kool...
they just dont blast it away like crazy!
what type of life are you looking for them to lead?
a life without humanity?
a life without human flaw?
a life of pure divinity?
then you arent going to find it...
but if you do want to listen to the memoirs of a christian strugling to meet the demands of this amoral world, and hold on to his values.
then i am choc full of them!
if you pm me...
i would gladly share my struggles and my accomplishments!
as well as my flaws and wrongdoings!

no no, you misunderstood me. I never said that they are not around, just that i have never personally met them. What i have met were alot of christians that bragged about excessive drinking (gettin buss up) smoking any and everything from backwoods to marijuana and other lewd acts but yet get offended when i say "i'd rather not listen to a kirk franklin album". When i said that i would rather see their beliefs in the way they act, i meant their composure, the way they treat other people (instead of trying to break them down) and things along that nature. I congratulate and encourage you on your accomplishments but like i said from the start, you had me figured all wrong.
edit: the excessive drinking and smoking part was in referance to the many teens (not adults) that i come in contact with

i understood you!
I never said that they are not around, just that i have never personally met them.
like i said, they are all over...and look closely at what people do, and not what they say they do!

well, to each his own....excess of any kind is wrong to me, whether it be food wine or marijuana.
its very good to follow the laws of the land, and carry yourself in a respectable manner, christianity teaches that!
When i said that i would rather see their beliefs in the way they act, i meant their composure, the way they treat other people (instead of trying to break them down) and things along that nature.
where do you meet these weird people, i know i know they are everywhere..but seriously what works for me is when i concentrate on better things..and not on the evil in the hearts of men..its an easy way to send your self to the funny farm!
I congratulate and encourage you on your accomplishments but like i said from the start, you had me figured all wrong.
thank you, and i had you figured for what you said...
you may not like the answer, but it applies to you!
edit: the excessive drinking and smoking part was in referance to the many teens (not adults) that i come in contact with
broaden your scope on the people you hang with...
not all christian young people smoke dope and drink excessively!
not all bahamians drink and smoke excessively!
even though the moderation of both is entirely up to you the individual..
its not what you do for the drink, its what the drink can do for you!

the christian faith has come far in accepting different world veiws, and oppinions on the faith..far more than any other...christianity is one of the most liberal of all....and for being that you call us hypocrites!
The only time Christianity has accepted different worldviews is when their policies are found to be in error of fact and they can no longer lie to the people. Or there is no money in it. Like the world is flat and left-handed people are choose to be workers of the devil. Yes Christianity is growing in it awareness but how many more lives have to be destroyed because of it.
in christianity, and christian countries, you have a choice to be and do what you want...and have a sound voice!
can not be said about slot of other countires!
This is a lie, I have friends that can't marry whom they want. We can't live our lives as the see fit with out being treated as less than human.
any nation that doesnt accept the right to freedom of religion, is not a nation in which i would put many hopes up for!
How about freedom from religion
no one is imposing anything on you vicky..
the choice is yours...IT WAS ALWAYS YOURS!!
the bible tells us that!
if you would see it a little clearer, you would know...YES KNOW...you are free and deserve the right to be...its just the consequences of your freedom is what you and you alone have to fend for!

well like i said, this is the obstacle you face when you want to practice a "socialy accpeted deviant act", that is VOLUNTARY!!
we have things in place for alls types of natural diseases, and ailments!
but nothing that we want to make the pain of homosexuality go away!
im sorry vic...
How about freedom from religion
freedom and religion???
now you are just spouting glittering generalities...
old cliches, that i doubt have anything to do with anything!
but if you must go like that..then i must as well!!
LET FREEDOM REIGN

ROTFLMAO Lord have mercy, looka what CG do.
Case in point:
At about 2:30am on the 21st of November my wife had a severe gallstone attack. We ended up selecting to have emergency surgery done and the gallbladder was removed via a 'laproscopic' operation, to seal the wound, Dr. Harris put EIGHT staples in my wife's abdomen.
How are said staples going to be removed?
I don't know, but at the end of the day, I said, "Thank You Dr. Harris."
Why?
And why under this yellow sun, would I thank a man for putting staples in my wife's adbomen?
Consider all possible reasons and then transfer them using the microcosm-macrocosm as a template.
I think that might answer your question.

First of all let me say that I was sorry to hear of your wife's misfortune. I hope she is well on the road to recovery. Other than that, I don't get the meaning of your posting! Please clarify.

Why would I thank a man for putting staples in my wife's abdomen?
Yep, she's doing fine. I appreciate the care and concern and will pass it on.

I think it is safe to say that the Doctor did not give your wife Gall stones. I don't know her or you but maybe she ate to much greasy foods (as I do!) The Doctor was trying to repair the damage, he did not inflict it. Yet, sometimes repairing can do as mush apparent damage as the disease itself.
God did not send her those stones to teach her a lesson. However, that does not mean that there is no lesson to be learned. Perhaps, she, and I, can eat more sensible foods?
I suffer from Kidney stones so I can sympathize with your wife's pain. I use meditations to control the pain - far better that medications and a lot cheaper! I don't see my infliction as God's doing - it is just the way my system is and the result of the way I sometimes abuse my system!!

Actually, my wife had been a vegitarian for about 6 yrs. until three to four months ago. So she's always been pretty careful as to what she ate.
Also, I deliberately left out this teeny bit of information. My wife, unbeknownst to her mother and I, has a slight variation in anatomy, her hepatic portal artery slings over and forks on her gallbladder, (according to Dr. Harris) instead of going around the liver as it's supposed to. Who's responsible for my wife's anatomy?
The Doctor was trying to repair the damage, he did not inflict it. Yet, sometimes repairing can do as mush apparent damage as the disease itself.
There you go. Apparent. Remember the man at the Pool of Siloam? Nature MUST run its course. You must run yours. Delroy his. Spirits MUST run their course. If the truth is clear, what is the meaning of meditation? The truth is clear. Always. We meditate because WE are not clear, always.
God did not send her those stones to teach her a lesson.
You don't know that, neither do I...but we both believe it-that is our faith. And no matter what you believe there are always steps that connect faith to fact, it's just a matter of traversing said steps. Remember the man at the Pool of Siloam.
What I know of YAHWEH is this, He is not an egotistical, charlatan, trickster.
The things we understand are that which we are meant to understand. If we don't understand them, we are simply not meant to. Death viewed with "Buddha-vision" is different from Death viewed by someone who has panic attacks and vice versa.
Rather, a Buddhist intent on viewing death through anything other chakra than their third eye will not fully understand it, granted viewing it through other chakras can produce alternate perceptions, you won't get the understanding that you are capable of at any given time of exploration.
I don't see my infliction as God's doing - it is just the way my system is and the result of the way I sometimes abuse my system!!
Well, gone for yaself, but I'll tell ya, I feel He is responsible for EVERYTHING (notice I didn't say it's His fault), and what we consider loss, pain or death are our considerations because that's what we were given to consider. Once, I remember you gave the laughing Buddha as an example. To merely gaze upon the object what do you see? Now open your third eye, you have considerations of peace and contentment, being able to glimpse perpetual joy within an inanimation state.
It's supposed to change, I agree with Delroy on this one, what you see, feel, view, perceive, receive, consider, approach with, leave with...all of those things are supposed to change-progress.
It's the reason why no matter what thread we start, it always ends up going in one direction. Some people here are afraid of change. Only through transformation will we ever know that final step from the humane to the divine-it CAN not happen unless we are changed.
What alot of people need to ask themselves is: how long will it take me to change? A lifetime, or a twinkling of an eye.

You have open a wonderful array of questions! I will answer them as soon as I can but I must sit down to dinner, we are having guests over to the house. (I hope the food is not too greasy!)
