Nutrition has a big affect on general health.

I read an article the other day that the greatest health problem in the Bahamas is Chronic Non-communicable Disease. (hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc)

There have been a few good studies on spices that may help.

Did you guys know that Tumeric, a spice found in curry may prevent mental decay (Alzheimer's). Cinnamon may help lower blood sugar?

So, cut down on the fat and butter, but eat that curry chicken! :D

Curry, Garlic, Fish, Olive Oil, and simply water. Lots of stuff is very good for your health. The problem is that people gorge themselves on food fried in saturated fat, and consume massive amounts of carbs. (No, I am not an Atkins advocate, but you have to keep it in balance). Look at the typical lunch, fried chicken or conch, with rice, potato salad, and fries. Follow that up with a Coke, you are slowly killing yourself.

I've ranted about this before, but people who pack back the calories that way should be looked upon with the same disdain as a drunk stumbling down the street, or a chain smoker.

Curry is great, especially curry chicken and white rice, my favorite. I cook a curry meal at least 4xs a month, my special friend hates it so on those days he would eat fast food. My reason for cooking curry can now be "because its good for u". Thanks for the info.

I'm a curry lover as well.

Curry mutton, white rice and couple big slices o' macaroni. Ah boy, I know what I'm cooking this evening!

Curry lamb (or Lamb Masala) is sweet too...

I was listening to Yolanda Powar for Doctors Hospital health tip she was talking about fruit drinks with high content of sugars etc, she named off couple other additives we should avoid and I thought we might as well eat and drink water because every year seems like they have something we should avoid!!!

Just have a SMALL slice of macaroni.

All that butter and cheese is high in saturated fat.

Dairy is good for calcium and vitamin D, but it moderation.

Why not have a salad instead? Or cole slaw (light on the Mayo)?

My mummy used to make carrot slaw with raisins and a bit of cinnamon and a dash of mayo! YUM!

Okay. LOL! :p

You do need a vegetable to balance out that meal though! And what about dessert?

Have one small slice of macaroni, a veggie and a small dessert!

'Jes make sure yo exercise today to work off dat macaroni. 30 minutes of vigorous cardio! :bouncy:

You probably have good genes. I get the same comments at the doctor.

I'd rather see a healthy patient preventing disease than a sick one.
