Most people believe that many of the songs we hear today are originals. Well I'm a fan of music from 50's - 70's and 80's so I know better.

I was just wondering if anyone can come up with their list of 50's - 70's and 80's songs that were remade from the early 90's to today.

Here are a few of mines to start:

Shirley Bassey - DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfYwIFIbCN0) 1970 (I am such a big fan of this lady) If anyone have her version of the song Memory (from musical "Cats") by Andrew Lloyd Webber please send it to me. I can't find it anywhere :(
Song was remade by Kanye West - Diamonds Are Forever

Ann Peebles - I Can't Stand the Rain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CCrA5Lq5XU)
Tina Turner remade this song in 1985 and Missy Elliot did it again in 1997

A Dream - DeBarge (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZsaF3Ecmu4)
I cant list how many times this song was remade. From Tu-Pac to Ashanti.

Ok you next...

Gosh this list would last forever... but here is some... Endless love remade many times original Lionel richie & Dianna Ross... "Slow Jam" original artist Midnight Star remake Usher and Monica... "I'm every woman" original Chaka Khan remake Whitney.."I will always love you" original Dolly parton remake Whitney... "Very Special" original Ronnie And Debra Laws.. remake Bid Daddy Kane and Spinderella.. "For ever For always For love" the late Luther Vandross remake Lalah Hathaway (daughter of the late Danny Hathaway)... and the list goes on forever... also don't forget about the sampling that a lot of artists are doing... Using the music and changing the lyrics...

Yes music is my field professionally so this I could talk about all day and all nite too!!!!:cutie:

lol. i hear ya. personally, i think mariah wore herself thin. 10 albums in 13/14 years will do that to u. man, at one point, she was releasing an album every year.

but i met her a few years back....(pre-breakdown....lol)....very nice person. surprisingly genuine & sincere. talked to me about nassau & recording at compass point....and how much she liked staying down here. she was really nice. so she won a fan for life, even though i was already a supporter.

but, i guess we'll see.

i know alicia's gonna win a million grammys for this album, though. if you happen to run across her album, give it a listen. i think they're playing it over on mtv.com. it almost feels like you're sitting in on a private jam session. doesn't sound like a studio album....at all.
