So im looking for a speedy 30/35- my christmas gift to myself and I tell my friend that I want to go in the store to buy the bag not online as they have an e-boutique (http://www.louisvuitton.com/web/flash/index.jsp;?buy=1&langue=en_US)now (I want the experience) so my friends says to me girl go on ebay (and I alarm her that Im frightful of buying luxury brands on ebay- she know- she use to sell knock off tiffany stuff on there) so she sends me a link and its a seller in japan selling some stuff then I remembered an article I read (http://www.mcclatchydc.com/226/story/17985.html) I believe in the NYT or some news magazine a while back and it alluded to the fact that they have well over 40 louis stores in Japan--...I was like dang...over 40! among other luxury brands...it seems the japanese have an affinity for luxury goods...who [outside the western hemisphere] knew? All that to say, ---(1)I hope we get out of them mind frame of thinking what others dont have and (2)nevermind the Japanese having bora bora, fiji, macau, hawaii or whatever else you throw at me but um does MOT take Japanese consumers seriously and is there a tourism office that far east to lure them to our shores?

the japs will never come in large numbers. they know the difference between high-priced and upscale.
The last japanese tourist here got sent to fox hill for years fer not speaking english after he lost all of his money, and now he is the only parking lot attendant downtown who is a millionaire. he gat a settlement from the government, for his imprisonment.

I did some tech consulting for a Japanese tour operator who moved here with his family. He moved to Canada a few years ago because he just wasn't getting the volume that the business needed.
Our tourism product was not designed for the Japanese tourist. They are not like Americans, who will gladly sit on the beach getting tanned and drinking Pina Coladas or Rum Punches.
Japanese visitors, from what I gather, are looking for a strong sense of culture, as well as activities which will give them memories of what The Bahamas and Bahamian people are truly all about. This is something that we have trouble doing consistently.
You should visit Japan, Taf. Add that to your list of travels. I think you will love it, especially Tokyo.

interesting perspective Mr. Brown. ;)
I will- that ticket from MIA is going for about 4 g's (being on a plane that long I need to be in first class)- my gay friend that rides the train with me all the time said he was going for 2 months- Ill have to email him and ask how was his trip...funny this my roommate's been (som study abroad program where he went for free) and I have a friend from undergrad that's a dj there...she's in okinawa...I think ive made mention of this...the miami book fair is this weekend makes a mental note to drag the children to the internation pavillion b/c usually the japanese consulate has an exhibit there...(I swear they are so ungrateful sometimes I have to threaten not to feed them or god forbid buy them a book-im exposing them to culture and they wanna be in the children's area- last year andrea mitchell was there and the clowned when we went in- I was so embarrassed and vexed- I love her husband--she is an extension of her husband- and those ingrates ruined my moment)
