A friend of mine who works for the Ministry of Works said that all promotions and increments will be placed on hold for civil servants because there was no funds in the budget made available in case of disasters- (Hurricanes, fires, etc...), is this correct? My sister told me that the same thing happened after Hurricane Floyd. Also My father works for BEC and they aren't being paid anymore overtime for the same reason. I don't think that this is right, especially since these guys are busting their butts to get the Bahamas up and running again. If this is true this is a sad situation that we are in. :jawdroop:

Yes it is not right, especially when the politicians are making large salaries.

I agree the portion of the statement must be definitely wrong, because I was told that companies like BEC, Batelco etc. are covered by insurances for disasters like hurricanes. At BEC once an employee works overtime he/she is paid for that time they works, management and the union would not allow such things to happen. It's a difference if management says no overtime, then you don't work it and if you don't work it, you cant expect to be paid for it. I think it must be the same at Batelco also.
