View Full Version : Poor people with expensive dogs
canewry 11-09-07, - 10:29 AM Every dog needs a good home. And we all know that a good home does not have to be behind the gates or out west or out east. However, recently, I witness that there has been a proliferation of 'ova da hill' people with these expensive 'toy' dogs. I am sure that a number of these dogs are well taken care of but often I wonder how are these persons are able to purchase, maintain and take care of these expensive dogs who demand so much care.
The other day on Brougham Street I witness one of those T****zu dogs running the streets with a pack of potcakes. And I was like see, the dog there started as a house dog and eventually the people couldn't take care of it, now its a yard dog, forced to eat scraps. Some people just shouldn't own such expensive dogs.

....Or for some, any dogs at all! Having a dog is a commitment. Some people can't even commit to their kids!
King Asiatic 11-09-07, - 10:32 AM the toy dogs, the huge SUVs, the most expensive phone (all while struggling)...i think everyone should have access to nice things but it seems as if it's more of a competition than anything else these days.
Sunnyjohn 11-09-07, - 10:34 AM What do you mean "How do they afford them?"
They spend the children's textbook money on a dog, da how!

Lady_chippie 11-09-07, - 10:35 AM 1. The one thing that bothers me the most is people that tie thier dogs to a tree all day in the hot sun, without water.
2. Puppies are so fat & cute (love at 1st sight) then when they start to grow they start to thin out and cause they aint cute no more they are neglected.
I can go on and on .........

It seems one is judged by what they own rather than who they are. Some people think that if they can surround themselves with classy things they will be classy - no such luck! :)

I am sure you know that is an offence under the law, but who is checking?

No body gives a fart.
I have one toy dog and recently picked up a stray puppy and trust me feeding them too is enough, to take on another animal would mean someones dog food would be getting cut short........

True.
It is such a silly way to judge worth.
I don't wear designer labels or shoes. I have one pair of black pumps, one pair of workout shoes (I recycle them every 4 months) and two pair of work shoes (for the hospital and OR).
I wear khaki's and a polo shirt (from target) or scrubs when I have to work in hospital.
We dress down at my church so I own no fancy church clothes. I've worn jeans the last 4 Sunday's.
I share a car (VW) with my DF or catch public transportation. I own a VERY modest home and bought all the (nice) furniture at a floor sale.
My money is for taking care of my family and investing. I spend on books and the things that really have meaning.
