View Full Version : Why Hillary? Ting-um 11-18-07, - 10:18 PM so what are you saying...you support her? ...of course I do.. Tuscany1 11-19-07, - 10:35 PM I believe Barack can win against Mitt Romney, for instance. I think -- based on the last congressional elections--that we're more tired of the conservative social and economic agenda than is generally recognized, and we want OUT of the war. If Barack were the Democratic nominee, more people would see what a capable, honest visionary he is. Spoke the best words on faith and politics I have ever heard (see You Tube). Obviously I'm a believer. I have hope. He's beating Hillary in the Iowa polls right now, I just heard (except on Fox News, they just couldn't stand to report that). Sunnyjohn 11-20-07, - 10:34 AM Go Giuliani!! :sailing: Step away from dat crack pipe.... LOL! AnarchyIsOrder 11-20-07, - 10:51 AM I don't think anything major is going to change no matter who's elected, the interests of power remain the same and politicans act in those interests. Giuliani makes me sick to my stomach though, hardly more so then Hillary. I like Obama, not so much as a politician but having read one of his books and heard him I prefer him as a person. Dennis Kucinich is by fr my favorite candidate over there but that's a fat chance. Giuliani has some realy nice WTF quotes though, lol "Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do." -- Rudy Giuliani, March 1994. AnarchyIsOrder 11-20-07, - 10:55 AM :jawdroop: He scares me. anybody who can actually say that with a straight face scares me. Doesn't it remind you of 1984: War is Peace; Freedom is Slavery; Ignorance is Strength blackscorpion 11-20-07, - 11:07 AM If the 2008 presidential election were held today, Hillary Rodham Clinton would win. She is simply running the most disciplined and effective campaign. She’s one of the most able politicians in America, and no one should underestimate her desire to be President and her calculating focus, she is afterall a scorpio. What you need to understand is that Hillary Clinton is, quite simply, craftier and more aggressive than the rest of the field. seer 11-20-07, - 11:15 AM What i dont like about Hillary is that you get the feeling that she isnt telling you what she really thinks, rather she is telling you what you want to hear...But still she will win in 2008... Can Obama be her? I think he can, but his problem is that he is trying to be Mr Nice Guy...He and Edwards are attacking her now, and as soon as they did she slipped up, but i think its a little too late. They should have been attacking her months ago... If there is any person in America who has skeletons from their past, its the Clintons, and the fact that Barack never had the ballz to get dirty and go back in the past and remind the Democrats just who the Clintons are will cost him. seer 11-20-07, - 11:18 AM She is simply running the most disciplined and effective campaign. He is the reason why Obama isnt getting the black vote...Him by Hillary's side reminds the Democrats of the good ole days... I think thats why she didnt leave him after he admitted the affair. She knew she would need him. Its not her Americans like, its BILL! AnarchyIsOrder 11-20-07, - 11:19 AM another lil thing about giuliani and some other repubs http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=103260&title=have-gun-will-grovel&tag=generic_tag_rudy_giuliani&itemId=105317 gotta love jon stewart songbird 11-20-07, - 11:38 AM *um ignorant person on American affairs here* does anyone have any idea how any of Clinton's or Obama's or any other candidate's political agenda will directly affect the Bahamas? that's my only concern, and call me stupid, but i dont really give a rat's tail about who wins. coakleysd 11-20-07, - 11:46 AM You are right. The First Lady has the authority to command the american military. To the other posters... Its amazing the reasons people give to dislike Hillary Clinton. There is no politician who is honest. There is no politician looking out for the common man. I have nothing against Barack Obama - but, he will lose horribly against any opponent the republicans send in. If you want more of Bush - then send in Obama. Hillary Clinton has been exposed more than any other politician aside from Bill Clinton - so if you say you don't know what she is up to - then you are full of shti. You know *EXACTLY* who she is and what she is up to. Funny Stuff. Good point about HC. Personally I really respect and like Obama. If honesty and being forthright was a presidential prerequisite, he would be the best choice hands down. Unfortunately to be the prez of the USA requires you to be dishonest, ambiguous, a thief, and damn near an American Gangster/street thug. This it what it takes to deal with self-absorbed Americans, thieving corporate CEO's and dillusional hate-mongers. Obama doesn't have the skills to deal with that. He's way too clean. Edwards and Obama or Biden and Edwards would make a good ticket, but you're a dillusional azz if you think America will elect a black man in the Whitehouse before a white woman. Obama is not electable and most die-hard democrats know this. GBI 11-20-07, - 12:00 PM With all due respect ting-um you are *WRONG* about Waco. It was Hillary who urged the orders, to go into Waco. It was under her instastance, to "end it" quickly. She set the American military, without just cause, to go in and storm a compound. Now, we all know Bush is a failure. Reagan was a decent prez. Clinton was "ok", but, at least with Bush and Reagan, you know what it is they are up to. With Clinton, you get lies and double speak. If anyone should be president, it should be John Mcain. Other than Obama. Mcain has the experience, he has the human decency to run the white house and it is exactly what the country needs. Aside from a fresh wind politician like Obama....with no ties to the establishment and brings no record to tear him down on. :hammer: Reagan was a decent president? you jokes aye? well I guess in your book. Tuscany1 11-20-07, - 08:33 PM ooh what cynicism about who Americans will/will not elect. I'd tell you more about how much I do think Obama can be elected, but must move the couch back a few feet so I can see my huge new digital flat screen while I count my stolen millions and eat a few burgers and Twinkies. Only time I get cynical about who Americans will elect is when I go to movies and see no one in the G-rated movie and a packed house in the most violent, lurid movie, and then the media goin on about how the evangelical vote matters-- and as for "Why Hillary?" I think the answer is name recognition and perceived experience make her look marketable to the head Dems. As for what my son has to say about experience: When Barack is sworn in, he will have 12 years of experience in government, including 8 years in state government and 4 years in national government, during which he has served on the foreign relations committee. He has as many years or more years in public life than 4 of the last 5 presidents and more national and foreign policy experience than any of those 4 presidents, who had exactly none. (Bush Sr. is the exception) Tired of this American thread yet? Anyone else have suggestions for my Bahamian lit question (posted in another section of issues)? round_robbin 01-05-08, - 10:46 AM You are right. The First Lady has the authority to command the american military. To the other posters... http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0312/01/lkl.00.html You do know that she was a central force in the Waco standoff? She set up the crisis centre teams and, was instrumental in putting pressure on the federal agencies, Vincent Foster and the Atty Gen at the time, Janet Reno, on finding which methods was the best in resolving the crisis. Linda Tripp's testimony can be backed up by various ATF agents, U.S. Atty's and numerous other federal agents and specialists, who were around the policy making centre of this issue. The story was that Billy Boy, did not want to get near the issue for fear of doing anything- which in truth, anything he would have done would have been politically incorrect. To go in or to not go in. That is the question. He should have used that type of strategy, when dealing with the women in his life. Hillary took the bull by the horns, led and organized the team and in practice, isolated Billy Boy from the issue- knowing that no fall out or cause of damage, would ever be linked to her, as she had no clear formal power and Billy Boy, was no where near the descision making process so he went out free and clear. Basically, she put hell fire and brimestone on the people involved- poor Vince Foster could not take the heat in the Clinton administration any longer, so he committed suicide. I think you know well and clear that pressure, political or office pressure, does not have to come under the coverage of formal powers- people can do enough, to force you out just by making your life a living hell. Some people can stick it out. Others, like Foster, take the easy way out. |
