I was once educated that it is the law once a Bahamian citizen starts to work he/she must obtain a National Insurance card and the long journey of endless contributions begins. When will National Insurance issue more beneficial retirement plans similar to Americans 401k, 403b, TSP and IRA. Can our Senior citizens live independantly on less that $400 a month.Civil servants and other private corporations do offer a private retirement plan that offers fixed Pension and Medical Insurance. Does this mean that NON civil servants who make contributions must look forward to pennies on the dollar or should they be allowed to cancell National Insurance contributions and invest their money with an investment bank who can offer a more attractive Retirement Package? If you can indeed live on less than $400 per month then no need to reply to this post.
