Try this. There a few listed. If you click on their names there is some info, not much but something.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Governor_of_the_Bahamas

I'd suggest checkign with one of the public libraries, they should be able to help you. I have only fond memories of the Eastern Public Library (Mackey st.) they'll usually find whatever for you if they have it.
It's amazing though how some times teachers assign projects with topics that are almost impossible to research, especially for young kids.

I am not sure if the question is worded correctly saying there were 10 Lord Proprietors. Accoring to the books there were 5 Lord Proprietors, who then appointed Propriety Governors.

That question may have included the Governors, in the count of Lord Proprietors.

Look at the dates, below Woodes Rogers was appointed in 1717, while Peter Colleton was a Lord Proprietor.

On 1 November 1670, the Bahamas were granted to the Lords Proprietors of the Province of Carolina:

The Duke of Albemarle, 1670–November 1688
Lord Craven, 1670–9 April 1697
Lord Ashley, 1670–1717
Peter Colleton, 1670–1717
Sir George Carteret, 1670–1680

The islands were largely left to themselves, but the Lords Proprietors appointed Proprietary Governors to administer them:

Hugh Wentworth, 1671
John Wentworth, December 1671–1676
Charles Chillingworth, 1676–1677
Roger Clarke, 1677–1682
Richard Lilburne, 1684

The first settlements were made in the mid-17th cent. by the English. In 1670the islands were granted to the lords proprietors of Carolina, who did not relinquish their claim until 1787, although Woodes Rogers, the first royal governor, was appointed in 1717.

Let me what the answer was please.

I feel like I am back in High School reading the book "The making of the Bahamas."

I remember those names from high school. Wow. I think you'll find information in "Story of The Bahamas". It is kind of beige in colour, and I think it was written by Paul Albury.

Thanks hun I do know the Proprietary Governors were appointed by the Lord Proprietors. There were actually more than 10 of them... The problem is that the internet only lists the proprietary governors and the years they served... I need background info on the governors as well... that's where the challenge is coming in... I will take him to the library today... hopefully they will have a reference book on the proprietary governors...

Thanks bunches

Doing a search on "Proprietary Governor" on the Nassau Guardian online webpage (back end search)

gave 11 documents that at least touched on some of the things the governors were a part of.
