Happy New Year Everyone! I hope all of you have a healthy, happy, prosperous new year.

I started early last night thinking of all the things I need to start my new year right. NOT resolutions, just onward and upward progression. I have put some thought into starting an online home based business. I chose travel in that within my circle of friends and family I am usually the go to for travel arrangements. So I googled "online travel business". There were several things that I can across. The Most prominent were World Ventures, Traverus, and YTB.They are all internet based travel agent business opportunities. The main theme that tends to link them is MLM(Multi-Level marketing).

I come to you today for a weigh in. Are any of you familiar with these companies, their marketing structure, whether or not you may consider them a scam. I even went on Scam.com which is set up much like BI to get information. No one seemed to give a clear, unbiased opinion. I could not make heads or tail of it  :dgi: .

I myself am not really looking to the marketing side , I really want to get involved in the travel side. I like the idea of not having to design my own website, the idea of having the travel search engine provided by the company. I am not minding the start up cost if I can recoup my investment back by booking travel.

So do any of you have in say in on the subject?

I googled World Ventures and found this site: http://masterdebater.fortunecity.com/Rants/World%20Ventures%20Analysis.htm

I dont like the idea of having to recruit more people. it seems like a pyramid scheme. isn't there some other way to start up the system without joining one of these things?

Yes, I agree I do not like the recruiting part either. I was more interested in referral part. So joining, I pay my 350.00 and the 19.99/monthly. I really want to know how much I could truly make just with the travel sales part. I have 2 family reunions that I am planning, and a honemoon for a friend, and my on trip with several of my friends. I think with just my trip with my friends having them book through a sight such as this(if it were mine) I think I could make up those fees within 3 months. Thats doing nothing else and of course if I understand the model(commission structure) correctly.

I vote no. The concept is a money-making scheme for the people on top of the pyramid, and shmucks at the bottom shell out. No one makes serious money at this game except those who run the game.

You could do the same thing yourself manually by putting in the time, and comparing various deals from travelocity, cheaptickets.com, selloffvacations.com and any and all of the sites. By doing the work yourself you will save thousands. This is not a bona fide home based business.

Thank you for your advice, I did further research and am going to go with a Host agency, they provide training, and help with website developement, I get to choose my busisness name, It is a trade off. It is a good start I think since i have a full time job. This route requires more work for me but still get the benefit of backing by established industry affiliates. And NO Recruiting!

I received a small donation/ investment from a friend  , and another friend has offered web designing services for me. :bouncy:

BTW- I am not Bahamian, But Nassau is my home away from home, I intend on fully promoting Tourism in the Bahamas because if my relationship continues to go well It will be my new home in the future. So when I am up and running I will be sure to let you all know.:)
