What is taking so long with the site's redesign? For many Out Islanders, the online version is the only one we get, and the site has been down for redesign for several weeks now. Why not keep the old one up there until the new site is ready? Decent media outlets are pretty scarce around here as it is ... anyone have an idea?

It takes time to build a quality website.

It’s not like making tea or a sandwich.
There is allot of planning and resources required and also it can be very costly.

The cost of keeping an old site up while redesigning for a new one can be very expensive.

There are other Bahamian newspapers online I suggest you check them out in the interim.

depends what they mean by several weeks, a simple newspaper application cant take more than a couple weeks if done by someone that knows what they are doing.

i agree with you completely, rory ... but we're talking about over a month now for the redesign. the old site wasn't graphics-heavy or anything ... at least give us a yahoo-style text-only portal in the meantime. bahama journal offered up the only balanced editorial ** attitudes from all perspectives ** available online ... nassau guardian is still licking its fnm-sensitive wounds, tribune might as well be publishing pre-1967 for all of its objectivity ... and the rest are party mouthpieces.

Please post the links for the Bahamian news papers online.

www.thenassauguardian.net or www.thenassauguardian.com for the Nassau Guardian; www.jonescommunicationsltd.com/journal USED to be the link for the bahama journal; abacojournal.com for the abaco journal; www.bahamasuncensored.com for bahamas uncensored (plp); bahamasb2b.com media wrapup (some nassau tribune) :walk: ... hope this helps.

I am still working on the site and I hope to have it completed soon.
There were many reasons for the delay which included the moving of servers and data (the rest is a bit too complected to explain).

A newsletter will be sent out at the official opening of the new site.
