View Full Version : Obama Wins Iowa!!!!
Sunnyjohn 01-04-08, - 10:47 AM Vince Ferguson said it best that our problem continues to be that if you are not book smart you are banished to vocational studies, the result of which is shoddy houses, and everything else that requires craftsmanship. We need to make vocational studies both rigorous and academic, to appeal to very smart people who would otherwise go into another field. I told you'll before that there are builders out there that do not understand building theory, and cannot do calculations, yet they making more money than the academically trained folk. Stupid! Our system is jacked up. We will continue to have to import skilled craftsmen until the end of time, and suffer from overpriced and bad construction if our policy makers continue to be fools.
Very true. :hammer:
For some reason people think that Vo- tech studies should be the place you send that kids who can't read. I never understood that.
Who wants a plumber of carpenter or contractor who barely scrapped by!

Barak's speech was politically brilliant tonight. Ya gats to give him dat. :p Hillary's speech was "I should be president cuz I am Hillary Clinton."
I like Obama, really hope the momentum holds, but it's a long way to the Presidential Election.

trubahamian 01-04-08, - 12:34 PM I will take your word as to the spelling; we need people like him, business people , smart, international. But no one is perfect as another member pointed out because Dionisio made an offensive remark regarding public v. private schools. I agree with the shoddy craftsmanship, especially in Nassau and Freeport. Construction of buildings in the family islands is much sturdier.

Its offical OBAMA won the Iowa caucuses...His theme is change...
So i must ask all BI members the questions, who is the Bahamas' OBAMA? Who is the one person on the Bahamian political landscape who inspires the masses like Obama does and is doing in the US? Is that person on the Bahamas political scene now, if so, who?
I honestly don't know but we need one soon. I am tired of the same old politics in this country. Obama's speech inspired me and I pray that it inspires more people to want change. We need a place where we don't see red or gold, crab or torch. A place where politics doesn't affect every aspect of society. Obama said it right. We have the power for change. I am going to start exercising it and making government officials and public figures accountable. The electorate has already shown that elections occur once every 5 years but we also need to show that accountability happens every day.

So you are pulling for a Republican candidate to win?
Joe Baboon 01-04-08, - 10:32 PM So you are pulling for a Republican candidate to win?
Which is odd, because the PLP is more socialist leaning than the FNM, which would make them blue, in USian terms.

nationbuilder 01-05-08, - 12:24 AM I spoke to someone today who said she thinks Hillary will make a good president cuz she will have her husband to tell her what to do.
What kind of foolishness is that? So then that person is saying Hillary by herself aint squat, and if her husband wasnt Bill she wouldnt be able to lead the country effectively and hence wouldnt make a good candidate. Thats some mess eh? :bouncy:

Yeah, great, its Chuck Norris. But Huckabee is the kinda guy who lets rapists out of jail, against their will, and allowed them to rape again. And you want him to run the worlds only remaining superpower?
