Hi Folks:

I'm working on several Bahamian/Caribbean focused endeavors.

1) The re-release of the first Bahamian movie Filthy Rich Gangster.
2) A new movie short
3) A documentary

Seeking some feedback.

a) Since bootleg DVDs home sell for between $5 to $10, how much do you think the average Bahamian would pay for an original Bahamian movie (on DVD)
b) Would you suggest (for pay per viewing showings on TV) Cable Bahamas, or another outlet
c) Would Bahamians support a totally Bahamian focused script or do you think that an Americanized Bahamian script would do better (for the new movie short I will be writing.
d) How socially-conscious would you like a new movie short. Lots of politics, truth, reality, etc or less and more fun, fantasy, etc?

Any other feedback would be great. I still haven't recouped from Filthy Rich Gangster, but if you all think there's a market home for product, then in addition to the re-release, I'll create some additional professionally produced products for home.

I'm also thinking of starting a new Film Festival. Any thoughts (haven't heard much from the existing Film Festival folks, so thinking to do something new.)

Re your response, I feel between my decades of experience, but with some practical feedback, I'll have a clearer feel of "what in the world yinna want".

A. Anywhere from 5-10...anymore and no one will buy it because guaranteed someone will sell bootlegs of your movies.
B.Dunno
C. Bahamian script all the way.
D. Reality is good enough. No need for fantasty...just use real stories and tweak them a bit.
About the Film Festival, maybe you should contact BIFF people because its really been gaining momentum and taking off....bunch of new Bahamian films this year.....you need to come home man....you sound like you been away too long, you gotta get up-to-date with what's going on down here.

Thanks for the responses HipHop brudda.

There are three levels of home for me. The Earthly (Bahamas/Africa). I haven't been to either in awhile but that leads to my second home (in my heart/soul). If you close your eyes, and are at peace, you'll find that anywhere you live, you are at home.

But you are right, there are some physical dimensions that I miss and need to get the flavor for and that can come from being home. I might come down for Junkanoo, and business this year. Depends on these new projects I'm doing in America, and some family issues (I have three great kids, and so you know tests, diapers, competitions, daddy stuff). Might bring them on the trip, as long as "Jupiter, Earth and Mercury line up, the Republicans don't win the White house, and somebody let's Michael Vic out of Jail". :-) Talk later bro...
