Apparently the group called in sick earlier this month.

After busting their butts during the Christmas Holidays and not being able to get time off.....AND.......having to work up to 12-14 hours daily. Quite a number of the staff were laid off just after New Years Day!!....NOW THIS.

Although I admit I odnt know the facts ont his case, I do know a lot about employees in the Bahamas. Retail employees have to realize that they are not unionized and that calling in sick if the form of a protest (if that is what this was) is not the proper way to act and are grounds for dismissal. In any other country in the modern world that would be unacceptable.

They would have been fired anywhere else in the world, so why not the Bahamas. Bahamian workers need to get a grip! What about the word "WORK" do they not understand? They are compensated for their actions and the employer has the right to expect them to live up to their side of the bargan. No sympathy from this poster at all!

The whole mentality is WRONG! You know what you are going to be paid before you take the job! If it is not enough salery for you go look for another job but do not blame the employer. Also stealing hurts the employer and the employee, not to mention the customer who has to pay extra to cover the employers losses. Nobody "wins" and the IDJITS who do not understand that must have graduated from Bahamian public school as only somebody who has no education would think in that manner. Short sighted and walking in the dark, never a good combination!

listen I just telling you what someone tell me...go have a anti-tief workshop in front of all larger retail shops in the bahamas...I dnt deal in stolen goods- my cousin was just complementing me on my dooney (that I got straight from the source) and she asked me how much I paid for it.--then she proceeded to tel me about this "deal" that's going around

quietly, if they was paying them right they wouldnt have to result to stealing...ya think?

That is not good logic. What is paying them right? How much are they getting paid and for what? I am sure you dont know. Stealing is wrong no matter how you cut it and its a huge problem in the Bahamas. My family operates one of the larger retail establishments in the Bahamas, and the employees are compensated farily, there is still a good amount of stealling. Its more of the robin hood mentality that some workers in the Bahamas seem to have.
