IS IT JUST ME, OR WHAT? I AM WONDERING WHAT ZNS DOES WITH TAPES OF PROGRAMMES THEY RECORD....FOR EXAMPLE TOWN MEETINGS ...REGATTAS.....INDEPENDENCE PARADES.....JUST TO NAME A FEW

AM OF THE VIEW INSTEAD OF ZNS SHOWING OLD PROGRAMS FROM MBC AND OTHERS,
THEY TAKE THE DUST OFF THE TAPES FROM OUT OF THEIR LIBRARY AND SHOW THEM FROM TIME TO TIME....ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM GO INTO THE FAMILY ISLANDS LIKE ACKLINS CROOKED ISLAND
MAYGUANA AND DO SOME DOCUMENTRY...IT DOSEN'T COST MUCH TO DO THAT. :realmad: :dunce: THEY CAN ALSO DO A DOCUMENTRY ON THE HON HUBERT INGRAHAM .OR ARE THEY GOING TO WAIT FOR HIM TO DEAD FIRST?

ALL AM SAYING INSTEAD OF SHAFTING THE BAHAMIAN PEOPLE WITH NONSENSE AND TALKING CRAP..... THERE ARE WAYS TO MAKE ZNS MORE COST EFFECTIVE BY BEING CREATIVE...DUST OFF THE TAPES IN STORAGE I WANT TO SEE THEM INSTEAD OF EXCERPS JUST FOR NEWS PURPOSES.

ALSO IT IRRITATES ME WHEN AM NOT ABLE TO GO TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY ZNS IS SHOWING OLD MOVIES FROM 1902........ I SAY SHOW CHURCH SERVICES ALREADY IN THE ARCHIVES THAT ONLY A PIECE WAS USED FOR NEWS PURPOSES.........SHOW THE WHOLE DOGONE THING IN THE VACANT SLOTS......... KICK MBC TO THE CURVE ALONG WITH MICHELLE. :hammer:

WHO ELSE AGREE WITH ME HOLLA LET ME HEAR YA.

WAKE up AND SMELL THE COFFEE...DUNCY :raw:

I like much of this. Maybe the politicians would block it; this could well be used to help us understand ourselves better and improve our Bahamaland.

Seems that our goverment is always talking about the good they do and plan to do, but it is hard for me to bring myself to believe that they are seroius!

I haven't watched ZNS for at least 7 years, unless there is something really, really, important coming on the news.

I personally wouldn't wish ZNS on the criminals in jail. :bored:

I would love to support ZNS, it is our local Bahamian station. I like the idea of ZNS focusing on quality local programming, instead of out of date network re-runs. It is a fact that most Bahamians have Cable television and have become used to a higher standard of programming. I dont expect ZNS to be like Cable, in fact I dont think that should be their goal, but like I said before to focus on quality loacal programming, and providing a platform for young talented Bahamians, and c'mon people stop playa hating ZNS, because before there was cable television, ZNS was what many of us had to contend with. I can remeber a time when you could count the number of those big satellite dishes that took up half a person's yard on one hand. Lets try to make ZNS a better station, instead of downing it every second we get, its ours, lets make it better people!

am not suggesting that anyone diss zns , am just offering suggestions on how they can make programming more apealing.

(1) send a camera man to islands like acklins and crooked island e.t.c. do a documentary. so people in Nassau and other places can see how they are living....because some people think they are behind the eight ball. this can be a form of education.

(2)air town meetings in its entirety.......for example meetings in south andros, that was used only for 20 second news segments.

(3)air tapings of regattas so as to get bahamian people to contribute to domestic tourism

(4)do documentary on present and former prime ministers while they are alive.

just to name a few, instead of putting away the tapes in the library for dust to gather.......and wasting money on stories just for news segments i am sure there are persons who are intrested i seeing these tapes. :dancer: instead of broadcasting stuff from mbc that no one is intrested in.

hats off to rev T.G Morrison on his twice monthly Sunday services.......Because i don't see why or national tv station on sundays are showing old cowboy movies at 11:00am and yet we call our selves a christian nation.

If you feeling me holla back let me hear you.

I watch the news on ZNS. I watch Native Stew, other than that there is not much else that attracts my interest. The Community Channel sometimes has interviews with famous Bahamians. I try to never miss it. ZNS could have done something like that. Imagine how valuable those tapes will be for future generations!

I have an idea for a TV show. One of the nations greatest story tellers writes a column in the local paper, The Punch. I am sure you have read his work. His name is P. Anthony White. His stories of people, and life in the Bahamas in the by-gone years are fascinating. Imagine a TV series based on his stories! We already have the writer, Mr. White. We have lots of local actors and we have a TV station. I am sure that there would be no shortage of viewers and financial support for such a show.

That is just one idea. There are many more floating around. Wake up ZNS.

CG, I think this is great. Who knows, one day this could lead to our making and showing our own movies!

Puts me in mind of the time when Sidney Poitier (now Sir Sidney) first won an Oscar. It was for a movie called Lillies of the Field. I used to wonder what it was about that movie that caused him to win the Oscar. To me, it just seemed straight forward simple acting that almost any Bahamian could do!

That got me to thinking that most Bahamians would make good movie actors!

Lilies of the Field was a great movie and it was made for something around $25,000 (if my memory serves.) A small amount of money, for a movie, even in those days. It took in millions!

The Bahamas has been blessed with a lot of good actors who have made it in the "big time" but could find no work here. The Bahamas has also been blessed with a country full of movie set possibilities. There are a lot of stories here. Envision a movie about a family that moves to an island and they encounter Chickcharnies! Something like that would sell in the states!

We have not properly utilized our local talent, or our ability to tell a good story. ZNS should have no trouble filling some time on their station with "home grown" talent.

Not missing the point at all!

You asked if ZNS should air local programs. Of course they should but not all of them have to be made by ZNS itself, nor do they have to be old religious services. New things, religious or other wise could be made by independent film makers. All ZNS has to do is encourage such film makers by creating a demand.

i hope that zns figures out one day that there are more than three (abaco, grand bahama, new providence) islands in this country ... i am tired of having to PAY zns to visit harbour island or eleuthera or cat island to cover a story that they should be telling in the first place. my island's room tax dollars are going to nassau to support their wicked *** programming in the first place ... shouldn't we have some sort of representation on-air? and not just for the 5-day drunken regatta extravaganzas, either.
