Whelks are still available here in Andros, Can't beat a good whelk and curb salad.

you just took me back to my childhood summers in the Big Yard...

Whelks and curb salad with a crab or two and a slice of johnny bread cooked on a pot with a hasty fire right on the bay....

Then you run off and play all day climbing tamrind and guinep and dilly trees until night falls when you run home wuickly to join the pack going out hunting for crab with your crocus sac and soda bottle full of kerosene and homeade wick....

look in the waters behind the stalls at potters cay and fish fry go in the straw markets.

all you could see is dead conch shells everywhere people need to reaslly look into the bahamas conch usage. i personally havent had conch in maybe 4 yrs.

While a cracked conch made from fresh conch is good...the officials at Agriculture and Fisheries need to look at implementing a closed season just like the grouper or even ban the harvestng of conch for a year.

In this light they wouldhave to continously police our waters though!
