Please go on website: oceanfutures.org and read the notes by Fabien Cousteau and his team which visited Bimini Islands in early December. It's a great reading!

Anyway people who might be interested in Bimini future and care about the fragile marine environment of Bimini can sign still ongoing "Save the Mangroves" online petition. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/885814782

Bimini is truely a beautiful place. I am so sorry to see such destruction but how is this petition suppose to help? Looks as if they are well on the way with construction and the damage has been done. Short of having them stop construction ........How can this destruction be stopped?

As I said to Abacogirl: I don't really believe that the petitions could make any difference. I personnaly worked hard in my country (like two years ago) to gain about 1000 signatures from Slovak people, I did some lectures about Bimini issue in schools and public places and what's the result? Christie ignored me as everyone else! Back to petitions, this kind of "protest" doesn't have any weight for the Bahamian government. At the first point, the thinking of natives, of Bahamians, especially Biminites has to be changed. They have to be aware of the importance of the fragile marine ecosystems of Bimini, of the economical and ecological benefit and stand for Bimini against the government. Unfortunately, because of the lack of information they are not able to do it. I witnessed it. I tried to educate them during my stay on islands but it needs the regular educational program!

So are you saying Bahamians are uneducated because they dont feel the way you do about something? If so, good luck with that petition. :hammer:
