A Place I call home
The place I call home.......
No longer are we segregated, our freedom is celebrated
Every year through JUNKANOO
As a voice shouts JUNKANOO is here!
So loud and proud and the sound echoes into your ear
Followed by simultaneous cheers from people everywhere
Large congregations of people forming many groups
The place I call home
Where they are all dressed up in cardboard boxes
Pasted and covered in colorful papers
Making a spectrum of beautiful colors
And the music
Goat skinned drums being pounded on by palms
Horns blowing, cowbells shaking
Mixed in with modern Rhythms
Chants and choreographed movements
Soothing the restless spirits
And your body moves unconsciously
To every beat or sound dancing passionately
Emotions express actively
By outbursts of laughter and screams of joy
This is the place I call home
