The crime problem in The Bahamas appears to have no end as some four person have lost their lives at the hands of criminals roaming New Providence.


The Pinewood home of a couple was broken into and both occupants a male and female were discovered with gunshot wounds to the back and head. The couple were discovered in the bedroom of the home, leaving detectives puzzled as to the motive of the crime.


Another two separate murders occurred outside two nightclubs just after 3AM on Saturday morning. One victim was shot in the head and the other in the neck. Police are not confirming whether these incidents are related. A total of 9 murders and 11 homicides have already occurred in the month of January alone.


Some 76 murders and 85 homicides occurred in The Bahamas in 2007 making it the bloodiest year on record across the country.

Are these victims suppose to be witnesses or accomplices?

We had alot of persons let out on bail. A policeman once told be that the hardest case for the crown to win is a murder case.

2. Witness missing... murdered... tooo scared to show up to court

This is why we need to fix the courts... Whatever they need GIVE IT TO THEM!!

We need a reform NOW! and quick. I think the criminals want the police to fear them like in Jamacia and Trinidad - the military run the streets.

exactly my point! all of these avenues needs to be explored and told to us so we can make the connections in our heads. ( i know we can't know all of what the police know).

Whatever happen to that application or law - not sure it was passed to protect the witness in capital cases? anyone knows?

did you see those two guns that were "turned" in to the preacher? Dam man, where do they get them from and how the hell does it get here? and if they can give two away, how many more they gat?something's DEAD wrong in the way we partol our borders. and extra years should be tacked on just for having the gun. I agree -- and do they test those guns to see if the have any links with crime? There is alot her that the police can do (not saying they are not working hard) but hope they are not outing fires only. We need get ahead of the criminal mind.

Weren't they shot guns? Idon't know much about guns, but if they were shot guns isn't it legal to have them once you vave a licence?

But I agree something is wrong. Maybe as part of our National Youth Programme we need to train young ppl to patrol with the Defence Force. Then they can work for a year or two before entering college or the working world.

the Government Need To Have A Gun Amnesty, After The Period The Amnesty If Given, They Should Add More Punishment To Anyone Found With Any Illegal Firearms..i Am Sure If There Is An Amnesty With Rewards a Lot Of Firearms Will Be Taken Of The Streets..the Police Force In The Bahamas Are Working Hard To Protect The Bahamians And Knowing That Some Of Them Fear For Themselves And Their Family Is A Target By Criminals..the Force Needs To Come Together And Make Plans Or Ways Of Dealing With These Murders Going On In The Bahamas.. When Tourist Reads The News It Kills That Economy If It Hasnt Already.. I Met Bahamians Who Are Running Away From The Bahamas Because Of The Situation..
