Well Shane Gibson has filed some complaints about the operations of Western Air. He told the House this morning, that he was on a Western Air Flight going to Freeport, the aircraft had already taxied onto the runway when the plane was stopped and returned to the gate.

He said shortly afterwards, a Shell fuel truck pulled and fueled the aircraft.
He said the passenger were

He also said that a pilot who works for Western Air he called the name, complained to him that there is problem with the maintenance and he is tired because of the amount of hours he is working.

Shane has a lot to say in the House his morning.

In this case the messenger matters. Western Air has had their share of problems. All to often, matters that should come before the HOA, no matter who are in power, are not brought forth by the sitting government. In opposition however..........they become Chicken Little!! They can CLEARLY see all the wrongs and the social ills and the potholes and the down traffic lights etc. and they want it fixed NAH!!

What gets to me is when politicans act to high and mighty when they "own" the public purse. All of a sudden NOTHING is done for The Bahamas because its the right and just thing to do. It becomes a case of " I DID this and I DID that. They may as well jump up on the table in the HOA and beat their chest like Tarzan!!

I the upmanship does not impress me one bit.

I know people that worked as baggage handlers for another airline at the airport, they mentioned that the maintenance crews for the Nassau Airport Authority (or whoever dealt with the maintenance on airlines which did not have their own maintenance staff) were always drunk.

Well I dont doubt there are problems with all of these aircraft companies, as we said in an earlier thread.

The owners of Western Air hit back yesterday. Rex Rolle CEO of the airline said he believes that personal and political grievances played a part in the statement made by Gibson.

Gibson had spoken about his cousin Phillip Hanna who had worked as a pilot for the airline. The MP said that his cousin complained to him that he was flying such long hours that he is often extremely tired when he flys the aircraft.

Yesterday Rex Rolle explained that Mr Hanna was a friend and an employee of his who DIED SEVERAL YEARS AGO after suffering from a long illness. Rolle is disgusted that Gibson chose to "drag a dead friend's quotes" into the HOA.

Rolle said he hired Mr Hanna when no other company would, and due to Hanna's illness, only let him work very limited hours after doctors declared him fit to fly.

Well I dont tink most people doubted that there was more to Shane's comments than his "concern for the safety of the flying public."

That being said, I still hope these airlines are doing what they should be doing and that these incidents are just a matter of course.
