You seem to think that the Progressive Liberal Party is like the Democrats, the liberal convention in the United States. Who woulda thunk it. Everyone shoutin' "PLP" and "FNM!" but we (and them) forget what the letters stand for sometimes. casualobserver 02-09-08, - 10:27 PM What is the bdm? Ross Perot. :) sly man 02-09-08, - 11:42 PM Ross Perot. :) lol,hey thats cool..lol. Liptor 02-09-08, - 11:58 PM Actually that is completely wrong Basically because there is no policy or ideological difference between the FNM and PLP, really there isn't. It is only personality politics. Everything from Atlantis, to NHI, to foreign investment is the same under the FNM and PLP. The Democrats and Republicans principally do have some ideological differences when it comes to the role that government should play, etc. Secondly, most Bahamians FNM and PLP's prefer Democrats, that's just the way it is. minor 02-10-08, - 08:32 AM The comparsion is not real. The US has abortion, gay rights, gun control and a lot of other issues that the republicans and democrats take diffrent sides on. Here its all talk about the same crap, we gonna give you more stuff and not waste your money like them others. BahamianSign 02-10-08, - 08:54 AM PLP are similar to U.S. Democrats; FNM are similar to U.S. Republicans. Any similar thoughts. Clearly if we evaluate every item they support (abortion, etc) there are some differences. BUT ON THE ECONOMIC FRONT, the PLP seem to support the poor and working-class, while (contrary to their talk) the FNM support the rich, foreign investors and the good ole' boys network. Now when you factor in corruption, then maybe the playing field is leveled more :-) cause both parties doing the "under the table $$ deals".... They both support the same thing, getting rich while in power.
